Sri Lankan companies compete on the virtual stage in Gamer.LK’s Mercantile Esports Championship

  • Companies battle companies in Mercantile Electronic Sports

2020 has been a pandemic year. Curfews, lockdowns, quarantine zones and social distancing – the Sri Lankan workforce that is able to work from home have been getting used to a whole new concept of getting work done away from office. The annual company retreat and sportsmeet replaced by Whatsapp group forwards and Zoom calls. One activity however that is continuing despite all these changes is Electronic Sports – specifically, the Mercantile Esports Championship where companies battle companies in an Electronic Sports arena. Gamer.LK has moved the annual Mercantile Esports Championship, happening for the 5th consecutive time this year, to a completely online event.

The championship has employees from companies banding together to represent their organisation and win the championship trophy. Close to 800 participants will compete across 15 game titles to win points for their company. The company with the highest overall points will be crowned as the champion. All participants are able to participate from the safety of their own home or office.

Wolfgang eSports in collaboration with Young Bloods presents “Blood Hunters 2020” one of the biggest Tencent approved PUBG Mobile & ranked tournaments is set to kick-off in Sri Lanka this November.

3 teams disqualified from P&S CODM tournament

  • Three teams disqualified for having Indian Nationals on the roster
  • FenrirXOmega, Team Inceptions, nA | XTASY | VENDETTA were the teams in question.
  • All matches affected have been replayed
  • The date for the rematch of finals set for the 15th of November

Gamer.LK has taken action against three teams that violated the rules during the Perera & Sons Mobile Contenders CODM tournament. The teams had one or more Indian nationals in their rosters which went against tournament policy and resulted in their disqualification. All games that were affected have already been replayed or scheduled for a rematch.

1. FenrirXOmega competed with multiple Indians in their roster. None of the games were affected and they were disqualified.

Sri Lanka’s team Live 2 Kill won’t be slowing down anytime soon as they bring home another title @ the ROG Battleground’s Rainbow Six: Siege championship. After a month of grueling battles, Live 2 Kill came out on top after they faced-off against eSamurai Esports at the Grand finals in a best of 5.

Hosted by Asus Bangladesh the tournaments Rs 100,000 prize pool saw 32 teams battle it out for 1st prize. Live 2 Kill walked away with Rs 60,000 while eSamurai Esports and Union Gaming for becoming were the first and second runners-up of the tournament respectively.
