The National Sports Council today released the 2021 strategy roadmap for Sports in Sri Lanka, and Esports has been included prominently as a main focus point. The Sri Lanka Esports Association conducted preliminary meetings with members of the National Sports Council to provide the Association’s plans for Esports in Sri Lanka and how Esports can be included in the National Sports Council’s national sports strategy.

Registrations for the Logitech Play to Win Valorant series have come to a close and a record number of 71 teams that are geared up and ready to compete for the 30,000 LKR prize pool that is up for the taking. This series is sure to bring us nail biting action and some new talent fighting for the top spot.
Matches for this series will commence on the 11th of February and each match will contribute to a team’s national ranking since Valorant is now a national ranked title in the country. The tournament will be held online with the matches streamed so none of the action is missed.
Gamer.LK’s eFootball Championship 2021 concludes with some dominating performances from Sri Lanka’s best eFootballers. Sachin ‘SID’ Dematapitiya representing Noob Alliance cements his win at the grand finals against tournament runner-up Kushan ‘Flashbullet’ Senanayake representing Maximum Esports winning 2-0 at a best of 3. A stellar performance by the veteran to continue his unbeaten streak and crown himself the tournament champion – earning himself the Champions title. The prize pool of 10,000 LKR is split between the three places with 5000 LKR being awarded to the first place and 3000 LKR, 2000 LKR being awarded to the second and third places respectively.

The Sri Lanka Esports Association (SLESA) ranked event was held online featuring FIFA 21 as its gaming title saw it’s 58 registered participants competing for the top spot. The tournament was sponsored by Red Bull Sri Lanka as its exclusive energy drink partner.
The governing body for Esports in Sri Lanka – the Sri Lanka Esports Association – appointed a new board last Sunday at the SLESA Annual General Meeting. The Executive Committee is as follows:

Director of Phoenix GaminG, Director of CeeBee Global Ventures, Founder/Director of TecRoot and Former Media Secretary of Sri Lanka Esports Association. Apart from being an Entrepreneur and an ERP/Business System Consultant, Safwan has more than 10 years of experience in the field of Esports. He has been an Esport Athlete, won few national awards, represented Sri Lanka as a Coach and contributed towards building Esports in the country.

An experienced eCommerce professional in the fields of Marketing and e-Business and for Esports from 2008. Managing Director for Maximum Esports one of the leading Esports organisations in Sri Lanka.
Isuru has been an Esports athlete since 2008 and has won several major gaming titles in Sri Lanka. Over his tenure he has captained his team to many title wins and went on to represent Sri Lanka in International tournaments. Currently, he operates as the administrator of a leading gaming organisation in Sri Lanka named Tech Morph.
Along with the Executive Committee, Dinuka Rathnayake was appointed as an independent member leading the Disciplinary Committee.
Dinuka has over a decade of experience in the Esports industry with a wide range of skills and roles that has been demonstrated through the strong industry relationships he has built over the years. He has supported SLESA and its initiatives since its inception and is currently working towards forging a new foundation for Esports in the Middle East.
I’d like to thank the members, Sri Lanka’s Esports clans and the community for once again placing their confidence in me to lead the Sri Lanka Esports Association. With Esports being one of the fastest growing sports in Sri Lanka today, I’m glad the senior stakeholders have come together in the form of this diverse Executive Committee to establish a strong base from which Sri Lankan Esports can transform into a global force. Our goal is to take Sri Lankan Esports to #1 in the next 5 years.

The Logitech G Play to Win Series Season 2 continues with its second title – Rainbow Six Siege. “Rehost simulator” and ‘Pnx – Clickbait” were last season’s winners and runners-up respectively. Gamer.LK, having organised racing game competitions since 2010, will be making the move to a sim-racing game called Assetto Corsa.
