2020 පෙබරවාරි මාසයේදී Gamer.LK විසින් ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ විශාලතම PUBG Mobile තරඟාවලිය සඳහා සත්කාරකත්වය සපයන ලද අතර එය ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ එකම කැපවූ Esports  නාලිකාව වන GLKtv හරහා සජීවීව විකාශය කරන ලදී. මුළු තරඟාවලිය පුරාම වැඩිම ප්‍රේක්ෂක සංඛ්‍යාවක් සිටීම පුදුමයට කරුණක් නොවේ.

From our humble beginnings, Gamer.LK has truly risen to see improvements in performances on-stage, online, and everywhere! 

Our on-stage growth increased at a sky-rocketing rate parallelly with our social media and online platforms gaining massive momentum. Comparing our statistics from 2018 & 2019, we are able to see the growth of an incredible 429%! The increase in viewership was due to higher quality, engaging streams. The addition of sponsored content and live tournaments kept us in the hot seat of being broadcasted all year long. 

In 2018, Gamer.LK had a total of 321.9K views while in 2019 we were able to get up to 1.7 Million views in total! As per our statistics, 2020 is looking at a whopping 2.8 Million views so far and we all know that is just the start! 

In 2020 February, Gamer.LK hosted Sri Lanka’s biggest PUBG Mobile Tournament which was broadcasted live through Sri Lanka’s only dedicated Esports Channel GLKtv, which without a surprise had the highest viewership throughout the whole event.

The growth and popularity of GLKtv is increasing every day. We at Gamer.LK is looking forward to bringing in more experiences, and live broadcasts in the future. 429% is a large number to beat, but Gamer.LK is hungry alongside its members to keep gaming and see where this number will go which is onwards and upwards.

Gamer.LK විසින් සංවිධානය කරන ලද තරඟාවලි සහ ඉසව්වල වැඩිවීමත් සමඟ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ Esports සමස්තයක් ලෙස  කැපී පෙනෙන වේගයකින් ඉහළ යමින් පවතී.

රග්බි සහ මෑත වසරවලදී ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ වැඩිපුරම ක්‍රීඩා කළ Esports හි search trends සංසන්දනය කිරීමට අපි තීරණය කළෙමු. Google trends වලට  අනුව, පසුගිය මාස 20 තුළ, ශ්‍රී ලාංකිකයන් රග්බි ක්‍රීඩාවට වඩා PUBG කෙරෙහි උනන්දුවක් දැක්වූ බව ඔප්පු වී තිබේ. සැප්තැම්බර් 14 සිට නොවැම්බර් 16 දක්වා කාලය තුළ, රග්බි ලෝක කුසලානයේ search trend එක උපරිම මට්ටමක පවතින අතර ක්‍රමයෙන් එය පහත වැටී අතර එය  PUBG search trends  වලට වඩා අඩු අගයක් ගෙන ඇත . search trends රටේ පළාත් අනුව වර්ග කිරීමේදී අපට දැන ගැනීමට ලැබුනේ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ පළාත් 9න් බටහිර හා මධ්‍යම පළාත හැර අනෙකුත් සියලුම පළාත් රග්බි ක්‍රීඩාවට වඩා PUBG සෙවීම්වල නිරත වී ඇති අතර වැඩිම searching percentage එක වාර්තා වෙන්නේ උතුරු හා නැගෙනහිර පළාත් තුළින්ය. පළාත් දෙකෙහිම search  percentage එක වන්නේ 83% .

2020 පෙබරවාරි මාසයේදී , Gamer.LK විසින් ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ විශාලතම PUBG Mobile තරඟාවලිය සංවිධානය කර ඇති අතර, රට පුරා විසිරී සිටින ක්‍රීඩක ක්‍රීඩිකාවන් 1400 කට අධික සංඛ්‍යාවක් සහභාගී වූ අතර, එය ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ පළමු Esports වෙබ් රූපවාහිනී නාලිකාව වන GLKtv හරහා PUBG රසිකයන් සහ අනෙකුත් Esports  ක්‍රීඩා ලෝලීන් සඳහා විකාශය විය. රුපවාහිනී විකාශයෙන් ද ප්‍රධාන ධාරාවේ උනන්දුව ලබා ගැනීමට එයට හැකි විය.  

ඉහත කරුණු සැලකිල්ලට ගත් විට, ශ්‍රී ලංකා තරුණ සමාජය අතර, “රග්බි සමය” හැරුණු විට,  PUBG කෙරෙහි ඇති උනන්දුව රග්බි ක්‍රීඩාව කෙරෙහි ඇති උමතුව අභිබවා ගොස් ඇති   බව පැහැදිලිය.   

සාම්ප්‍රදායික ක්‍රීඩා අභිබවා යාමට Esports දැනටමත් ආරම්භ වී ඇති බවත්, වැඩි කල් නොගොස් රට තුළ වැඩිපුරම නරඹන ලද සහ ක්‍රීඩා කරන ක්‍රීඩාව මෙය බවත් මෙයින් තහවුරු වෙයි.

More Sri Lankans search for PUBG than Rugby

  • PUBG has taken the South Asian Esports scene by storm

  • Google Search Trends show that PUBG has overtaken Rugby in number of searches

PUBG, the OG battle royale game released on PC and mobile has taken the South Asian Esports scene by storm. At present Sri Lanka already has over 2000 Esports athletes who play in PUBG Mobile tournaments across the country. Sri Lankan Esports overall is rising at an impressive rate since the increase of tournaments and events organized by Gamer.LK.

We decided to compare the search trends and scope of Rugby and the most played Esport in Sri Lanka in recent years, PUBG. And the results were interesting! According to Google Trends, in the past 20 months, Sri Lankans have proved to have shown an interest in PUBG more than towards Rugby. The exception being for the period September 14th – Nov 16th, where there’s a peak of searches on the Rugby World Cup and a gradual decline going back to being lesser than the PUBG searches. While categorizing the search trends according to the subregions of the country, it is clear that, out of the 9 provinces of Sri Lanka, all other provinces other than Western and Central Province have been engaging in PUBG searches more than Rugby and the highest searches belong to Northern and Eastern province where the percentage of PUBG searches did hit 83% in each province, well now that’s massive!

In February 2020, Gamer.LK  hosted Sri Lankan’s Largest PUBG Mobile Tournament with over 1400+  Esports athletes participating from across the country, which was streamed over Sri Lanka’s first Esports web TV channel GLKtv for PUBG fans, and other Esports enthusiasts. It gained mainstream interest as well from television broadcasts.

Taking the above facts into consideration, it is clearly visible that among Sri Lankan youth society, interest towards PUBG is continuing to surpass that of Rugby except for during the “Rugby season”, where all the madness is about Rugby. This also indicates that Esports already has begun to surpass traditional sports, and soon will be the most-watched, and played sport in the country.
