These national athletes spoke up about how Gamer.LK has helped them through the years to reach their goals of international exposure:
Amruth “Amypie” Alfred
National colors for Esports. Represented Sri Lanka at the Asian Games. Starcraft 2 player from Xiphos Esports
I’ve seen Gamer.LK build up the Esports community from ground up in Sri Lanka for more than 10 years in my gaming career, culminating in them providing all Sri Lankans a fair, unbiased chance at representing the country, which is how I was able to successfully qualify for the Asian Games as the South Asian representative.
Mohamed “Ma$ter” Mufeed
Represented Sri Lanka at the Asian Games, Nations Cup 2019. PES player from Maximum Esports
I represented Sri Lanka at the Nations Cup for PES held in India, thanks to coordination by Gamer.LK and Raveen who guided me when I was there. Gamer.LK has always been unbiased and I am grateful to them for what they have done for Sri Lankan Esports.
Team members of former Lanka Lions
Represented Sri Lanka at the Asian Games and IESF World Championship 2018. League of Legends players formerly from Phoenix GaminG
We have participated in international tournaments for IESF and Asian Games and we got the full support from GLK and SLESA where they went the extra mile to provide extra compensation for us when we required it and ensured that our members arrived at tournaments on time with no issue. To this day we have not come across incidents where GLK have been biased to any clan and in our experience they have only looked towards the betterment of Esports in Sri Lanka as a whole rather than favor a clan locally.
Team members of Zegg
Represented Sri Lanka at the IESF World Championship 2018. Sri Lankan CS:GO team
Playing at an international level takes more than just a team that is skilled. There exists a lot of red tape that us players don’t have the experience to deal with. Whenever we took part in an overseas tournament GLK has always helped us in securing the proper documentation to fulfill visa requirements. Even when our visas were rejected and were not able to take part in the Zowie South Asia Qualifiers, GLK never stopped trying until it was a pointless endeavor.
The amount of support shown by the organization is unparalleled, for example, when we were treated unfairly at WESG it was GLK who stood up for us and made sure justice prevailed.
However it isn’t the above that compelled us to give this statement. GLK gave us the platform to play at an international level. From organizing LAN qualifiers for tournaments such as IeSF and Zowie eXtremeland, to hosting their own events such as the IGE South Asia Cup. GLK has helped put Sri Lankan Esports on the map and for that we are forever indebted.
Shihab Rizan
Represented Sri Lanka at AESF e-Masters ‘20 in Bangkok. PES Player from Phoenix GaminG
I was a part of an international tournament that was held in January this year. Selecting the right participants to represent Sri Lanka was important. Since Pro Evolution Soccer isn’t a game that is played in Sri Lankan tournaments it was not easy to decide on that. GLK took on a great initiative by notifying the gaming communities and organising a quick tournament where the winners would represent their country.
This tournament happened in a fair and square way where the rules of the international tournament was adhered to. The winner and runner-up were selected. The organizers helped us prepare for this tournament, from getting our tickets and accommodations sorted to getting the right letters to process the visa were all done by GLK. We were behind schedule but thanks to pro-activeness of GLK we were able to get everything sorted right on time.
Vikum was our representative from GLK and Safwan “CB” Mansoor represented as my coach. We were well taken care of during the tournament.
Isuru ‘Deathwish’ Lokuge
Represented Sri Lanka in Dota 2 at the IESF World Championship 2019 held in South Korea.
GLK took on the initiative to host qualifiers for the IESF World Championship ’19 Dota 2 event. The winners would represent Sri Lanka in South Korea and it was held in a fair and unbiased manner. GLK supported us to get our visas and coordinated with the International Esports Federation to get tickets and hotel accommodation. Ramesh was our representative from GLK, who assisted us in coordination with tournament organizers and guided us during the course of our stay in South Korea. We’re appreciative for the assistance GLK gave and hope this type of support will continue to be found later on as well.
