The esports industry is growing rapidly. TheStreet has already reported that the industry is set to surpass a billion dollars within the next year. Some of this growth is thanks to the growing population of younger players who are playing or watching eSports. According to Newzoo, over 65% of esports viewers are college students. And Jack Vandervelde, co-founder of Helix eSports–a gaming center based in New Jersey–expects that esports will be similar to traditional sports. Vandervelde said that he expects esports scholarships to start popping up.
