2020 has been a pandemic year. Curfews, lockdowns, quarantine zones and social distancing – the Sri Lankan workforce that is able to work from home have been getting used to a whole new concept of getting work done away from office. The annual company retreat and sportsmeet replaced by Whatsapp group forwards and Zoom calls. One activity however that is continuing despite all these changes is Electronic Sports – specifically, the Mercantile Esports Championship where companies battle companies in an Electronic Sports arena. Gamer.LK has moved the annual Mercantile Esports Championship, happening for the 5th consecutive time this year, to a completely online event.

The championship has employees from companies banding together to represent their organisation and win the championship trophy. Close to 800 participants will compete across 15 game titles to win points for their company. The company with the highest overall points will be crowned as the champion. All participants are able to participate from the safety of their own home or office.
