Sri Lanka’s premier Esports company Gamer.LK has announced the SINGER Esports Premier League – a franchise based PUBG Mobile league consisting of 12 teams and a Rs. 1 million prize pool. With over 2,000 Esports athletes expected to compete for a spot in the 12 teams, it is Sri Lanka’s largest Esports league. The event will be held throughout August, September and October of this year. 9 of the franchises are based on the Sri Lankan provinces – Eastern Gladiators, Kadurata Kings, Northern Rangers, Rajarata Giants, Sabaragamuwa Knights, Southern Sharks, Uva Bandits, Wayamba Raiders and Western Warriors.
Esports has been growing at a rapid pace in Sri Lanka over the last decade thanks to Gamer.LK’s consistent efforts in organising tournaments and activities around the sport. There are an estimated 4 million gamers in the country. Esports was recognised by the Sports Ministry of Sri Lanka as the 70th national sport in 2019.
The SINGER Esports Premier League by Gamer.LK will be held completely remotely, with players joining the tournament from the safety of their homes. Esports is a fully digital activity, making it an appropriate sport compatible with the country’s current social distancing and safety guidelines. The league is broken down into 4 phases;
1) OPEN QUALIFIERS, where any gamer in the country can register (epl.lk) and compete. Sri Lanka’s best 60 PUBG Mobile players will be selected from the open qualifier and included in the team auction phase.
2) TEAM AUCTION, is where the qualified players are bid on by team managers and recruited. 4 players and a substitute player will be recruited for each team.
3) PLAY-OFFS, where the 12 teams battle it out for a place in the super-weekend and grand finals.
4) SUPER WEEKEND & GRAND FINALS – the final showdown where the top 9 teams will compete for the Rs. 1 million prize pool and glory!

The Next Dell Streamer campaign by the Dell Gaming Academy of Sri Lanka, was an opportunity given by the group to promote and locate the next big name in Sri Lankan streaming. The event was open to all up and coming streamers who wanted a chance to showcase their skills and talent to the public.
Of the 100+ applicants for the Next Dell Streamer, only 16 were chosen to move on to the audition stage. Here, the judges for the event would rate the audition video submission by the applicants, and the 8 contestants with the highest score would move on to the next round. The judges for the Next Dell Streamer event were the Avurudu Kumara and Kumariya from the Streamer Kumara and Kumariya event back in April of this month: Hashano from T-Hik Gaming and Lihini from Lilee Gaming.
The 8 contestants who made it through to the next round were: Noobie Wishy, Gaming Master SL, Ceylon Valorant, SachiyaLIVE, DARKFLASH, Craxked, Mr President and FantasyLK. From here on, the applicants faced off against each other in a 1v1 streamer battle, where the winner would be determined by community votes. After the intense quarter and semi finals, the 2 finalists were decided – SachiyaLIVE and Mr President. The 2 contestants gave it their all for a chance to become the Next Dell Streamer during the grand finals. However, in the end SachiyaLIVE came out on top with 4,000+ votes to his name, making him the Next Dell Streamer.
The Dell Gaming Academy is a Facebook group created by Dell Gaming Sri Lanka, with the goal of being an exclusive online community for all gamers in Sri Lanka. The group focuses on content revolving around Sri Lankan streamers and gaming in general, and currently consists of over 15,000 members.

The Valorant Conquerors Championship (VCC) is a huge opportunity given by Riot Games, for South Asian Valorant teams to compete in the APAC Last Chance Qualifiers for the Valorant Champions Tour 2021. Last week the VCC – Sri Lanka & Maldives qualifiers began and saw some of the best teams from both countries fighting for a spot in the playoffs. From all the teams participating, a majority were from Sri Lanka and consisted of some of the best Valorant teams the country has to offer.
However, only 1 team was able to be crowned victor and make their way to the playoffs – Crash Landin on You, the current #3 best Valorant roster in Sri Lanka. Along their way to the grand finals, they had to face off against some tough opponents, including Sri Lanka’s current #1 Valorant team, who they managed to defeat 2 – 0. At the grand finals, Crash Landin on You faced off against Maldives’ Lexious Gaming in a BO5, and had both countries wholeheartedly supporting their home teams. The grand finals ended up being a back and forth between both teams throughout 4 maps, pushing the finals to a 5th and final map. Here, Crash Landin on You didn’t slow down for a second, but continued to push through ending map 5 on an impressive 13 – 3 scoreline. Their victory has made many Sri Lankans proud, and excited to see how they perform in the playoffs.
The playoffs for VCC are set to begin on the 20th of August and will pit the 8 teams from the country qualifiers against each other. The winner of the playoffs will be awarded the 1st place prize of Rs. 3.2 million (USD 16,500) and the opportunity to play at the APAC Last Chance Qualifiers. Where the champions will get to play in the 2021 Valorant Champions event.

- Over 1,980 registered participants for the Samsung Lockdown Challenge
The Samsung Lockdown Challenge which wrapped up last month (30th June), saw the highest participation by far for a Samsung sponsored online Esports event, with over 1,980 total registered participants. The tournament witnessed these players fight across 8 different game titles with over a 100 matches played to earn a share of the LKR 100,000 prize pool.
The Samsung Lockdown Challenge attracted many participants, making the event more competitive than ever before. This includes winners from previous seasons of the Samsung Members Challenge Series, who went on to win at the Samsung Lockdown Challenge proving their skills. Some of the previous winners who won placements were: Sineth “KILL3R. XD” Dulanjana, Osura Wengappuli, Nishan “NEGU NISHAN” Madusanka and TM | Death Brigade.
There were also winners from other events such as Udani “Elza” Jananika and Sulaiman “DEADSHOT” Aroos from team Crash Landin On You, who emerged victorious in Mario Kart Tour and Valorant deathmatch respectively. However, there were also new participants who were able to beat previous champions, such as Adithya “_Ascend_” Jayakody who won the Call of Duty Mobile and Samitha ‘NAWTFTURBO’ Madushan who placed 1st in PUBG Mobile.

Earlier this year Gamer.LK kicked off their eFootball Championship, which was an online tournament and had over 50 participants fighting for the top spot. This August, the eFootball Championship returns for its 2nd Season powered by the Republic of Gamers (ROG). This season is not only a ranked tournament but offers players a chance to qualify for the Asian Football Gaming Championship.
Last season, out of the 50+ players participating, Sachin ‘SID’ Dematapitiya was crowned the champion after his unstoppable run all the way to grand finals. Since then he has continued to maintain his spot as the best FIFA ‘21 player in the country. - Over 90 matches played throughout Season 3 with 90+ teams
- UG – ZeGG eSports win Division A of Logitech G Play to Win Season 3 Valorant
- 3rd consecutive win for ZeGG eSports at the Logitech G Play to Win Valorant series
- WG – Team GunSlingerS and WG – Mist’ Walkers place 2nd and 3rd respectively
- WG – Mist’ Walkers place 1st in Division B of Logitech G Play to Win Season 3 Valorant
- Division B 2nd and 3rd place went to Team NyX and Ninjas In Sarongs
The 3rd Season of the Logitech G Play to Win Valorant Series concluded on the 27th of June, and was packed with some incredible matches. Unlike previous seasons, this time the tournament was split into 2 divisions (Division A & B). Division B had a prize pool of Rs. 30,000 and was where the majority of the teams played for a chance to win part of the prize pool and a shot at qualifying for Division A. In Division A, the top 4 Valorant teams in the country took on the top 4 teams of Division B for a shot at the biggest Valorant prize pool yet of Rs. 100,000.
This season of the Play to Win Series also had the highest number of registered teams by far, with 500+ players across over 90 teams for Division B. However, only the top 4 teams were able to move on to Division A, after fighting their way through over 80 matches. WG – Mist’ Walkers were crowned champions of Division B after their victory over Team NyX. While Ninjas In Sarongs took 3rd place, beating out WG – PURPLE OVERKILL. These 4 teams then moved on to the next Division.
In Division A, these teams faced off against some of the best Valorant teams in Sri Lanka such as; UG – ZeGG eSports, WG – Team GunSlingerS, M-eS – DEAD SILENCE EXPERTs and M-eS – Revolutionary Gamers. With higher stakes than Division B, all the teams gave their best effort to make it to the end. The grand finals of the series was a matchup between the #1 and #2 best teams in the country – Team GunSlingerS and ZeGG eSports. As this was a ranked tournament as well, both teams fought hard to claim the title of best team in the country. However, the then #2 best team, ZeGG eSports came out victorious and reclaimed the #1 spot in the country.
