The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka’s (TRCSL) Director General, Oshada Senanayake will be participating in a Q&A livestream hosted by CEO of Gamer.LK and President of the Sri Lankan Esports Association (SLESA) Raveen Wijayatilake, tomorrow 18th of March 2021. As part of the Q&A many of the prevalent issues and hot topics regarding Sri Lanka’s internet access and connectivity will be discussed, such as unlimited data, latency for gamers, 5G, night time/day time data, cyber crimes & bullying and many more.
In the days prior to this, the members of the TRCSL along with Director General Senanayake also attended a meeting with Raveen Wijayatilake and his team, in order to discuss the internet connectivity issues faced in Sri Lanka and how they can be improved for Esports athletes in the country. During this discussion, the TRCSL was provided feedback from the gaming and Esports community, from both a casual gamers and an Esports athletes perspective.
It was made evident that the biggest limitation for Esports talent in Sri Lanka to develop their abilities and break through to larger tournaments on a regional and international level was due to latency issues among other things. After hearing the issues faced by the community, the TRCSL committed to investigating on how they can work with and support local Internet Service Providers (ISP) to improve the connectivity experience for gamers in Sri Lanka.
Be sure to stay tuned to Gamer.LK’s social media to view tomorrow’s livestream and for more updates about the TRCSL and their future plans for internet connectivity and Esports.
