It does in some situations,But the 3870 is a temporary solution, neverthe less it does fine in most games except in crysis .Since I've another 19" LCD ,I can revert back to that one for playing those type of games. Hoping to upgrade to a 4870 soon! At the moment a bit short in cash!! :D

I think the Gigabyte GF8800GT is a good choice, its packed with power n' it runs cooler than most of the cards out there!! (Y). i bought it for Rs.33,000.00/=  :\ (I know its expensive) n' its awesome. but surely you can buy it from some other country for half the price because its a bit of an old card now.... but i think its worth it for the 3 year warranty you get here.....even crysis runs 40+ on max setting, thats on 2GB RAM, if you upgraded to 4GB it would be even faster!

Hardcore, your system suits your name. But no you do not need 8GB. You money is better spent elsewhere... maybe a couple of 10,000RPM WD Raptor's on RAID?

Well it depends really... If he was using all 4 cores in somehing, chances are 8GB would have been of some use. Also, on the speed side, the SSDs look appealing, while on the mass storage side, the 640GB and 1TB Caviars look nice. The raptors are sort of in no man's land.... And buying raptors for Raid 1/10 is waaay too much money wasted... Cant deny it. Even the newer velociRaptors which have more storage dont have enough storage to justify mirroring...

BUT, I think the money is best spent on a new Graphics card. Im sure the 8800GTX has troubles with the high resolution on that monitor (inherent problem, not performance).
