Will Amacrox AX500-S support GTX 275?
« on: August 25, 2009, 09:58:43 am »
I might go for an XFX GTX 275 card and was thinking if the Amacrox AX500-S will be enough to power it up. My system will only have a C2D, 1 stick of memory, 1 DVDROM and 1 SATA Hard disk.

Could anyone who has an Amacrox AX500-S already pls tell me the specs written on the PSU side. I wana know how much it has on the 12V rail.

( 1 ) +3.3V & +5V total output not exceed 160W.
( 2 ) maximum combined current for the 12V outputs shall be 34A
( 3 ) +3.3V & 5V & +12V outputs power should not exceed 481.5W.
( 4 ) total output for this subject power supply is 500W watts

12V1 25A
12V2 18A
But altogether total 34A

I think to find the total amperage on 12V rail you should divide output power by 12 right? So it's 481.5/12=40?

thanks for the fast reply.

no no its 34A
chk the second point 481.5 is the total of 3.3 5 and 12

Oh ok. Has anyone tried using a high end card like GTX 275 with the amacrox 500w?

Of course it should be enough if this graph is correct. People are running 4870's with the same PSU with no probs.

Coolage! I was wondering if I'd have to spend about 15k on a 650W PSU :S Anyways, Amacrox FTW!

Amacrox comes with a FSP Group Design, as i seen in inside it can be mod, i'm not sure about the transformer (bigone Separating the Main line with DC side) is capable delivering more than 500W,

but anyone is darehere what to do.
inside u'll find holes for another set of MOSFETS (transistors) in DC side (Beside Heat sinks). these holes use to Put mirror MOSFETS and get higher amperage. but u need the same model of otherone

hmm.. this is not much clear.. well i'll write a guide when i exceed my warranty..
