PSP-1000 to 1004 are what is known as the PSP classic (or the phat or the fat or whatever...) &
PSP-2000 to 2004 are what is known as the PSP lite (or the slim...)
the slim and the phat differs by basically their form factor and the weight & the slim also has a tv out (which the cables are a bit hard to find) and there r some functional differences if you r going cfw
and I dont think that 1001 and 1004 is any different from each other and so does 2000 to 2005

in some places in MC they take 4500 minimum for the mod (& they dont give u the NAND dump, they dont even have a clue of what the NAND is, in PANAMA traders when I asked if I can get the NAND dump they though that I was asking for the software thet they use to do the modding and they say no no they'll not give it, as I later found out that they send it to the goodguys and do it) any how the goodguys ppl will give you the dump and do it for 3000 (they'll even do it for 1500 without the dump) so you get the picture. I think u'll be able to get it done for like 2000 if u r good at bargaining.
