A group of friends who frequently played online games decided to give themselves a name. The quirky little title "KTHX" was agreed on since it conveyed the reason we were gaming back then - fun. We were one of the first clans in the online gaming scene at the time, along with Death Companys original lineup. Every night KTHX vs DC DOTA matches were played - and that is pretty much what the online clan scene was in Sri Lanka.

Later, Gamer.LK was born, and with that came the sudden increase in clans and clan matches. With competitive gaming catching on in the country, KTHX started recruiting, practising and taking part in online tournaments like GCCL. By this time it was obvious KTHX was changing - it was no longer a group of friends doing what they loved. We could see KTHX moving away from its not-too-serious attitude it once had and adopting a more competetive focus.

This left the founder members with some questions - where are we taking KTHX? Do we want the clan going in this direction? Is this why we started it? In the end, it was decided that KTHX should be preserved as it was founded - a group of friends who excersized their passion - a brotherhood of gamers. It is for this reason we are retiring KTHX from the competitive gaming scene.

And on to the good news! Members of KTHX will be forming a new clan - "Falsus Divertimento" ("Deceptive Fun" in two different languages ). More news about this in its own thread!. Note that some KTHX members will still use the KTHX tag as homage to their roots.

But I like what you said about the clan moving from a "group of friends doing what they loved" to becoming a competitive bunch of guys. I prefer the former over the latter tbh. So kudos for you guys recognizing this change and deciding instead to preserve what it was

I totally agree with you RAV even I used to play games for fun and now the competition has increased and it has ruined the fun of gaming !! I still love playing LAN with my friends it was so much better!

This is the first thing i thought when i saw the name (Great minds think alike ne! )
Anyways.. kthx was the first clan i knew in SL. Those days when we played CS with 7 players in hamachi I wondered y u played with kthx. before your name! then after that only i knew that Sri Lanka also have gaming clans
