as far as I know there's no vendor for EVGA in SL. I might be wrong.

But I would advice to stay away from the EVGA 10x series cards as they have been catching fire.

it's only been happening to EVGA cards. So I would suggest do some research before going for EVGA.

I was gonna go for a themed system and go for all ASUS components but upon doing some research I found out that the ASUS cards have a lower clock speed but are priced higher.

So I went with ZOTAC instead.

this has some useful info:

Zotac clocks may be high,  but with a failure rate of 2.7%,  I call Bullshit,  you're better off getting a Palit(also known as gainward in Europe) card.

http://www.hardware.fr/articles/947-5/cartes-graphiques.html

Here is a link from hardware.fr that shows the return rate of Graphics cards,  palit having the lowest (1.05%)
Note-Gainward is the name used by palit for European markets.

it only affects 1060/1070/1080 and only under extreme conditions (during furmark stress testing). EVGA has already given a firmware update and optional free thermal pads to anyone who requires it

more info: http://evga.com/thermalmod

as a brand i highly recommend evga because of their consumer focus. for example they are the only company that offers global warranty even for non registered cards.

You can purchase through amazon since they are shipping to SL now. 1050 will cost around 28k with shipping and taxes.

PS: My 1080 runs around ~68C under load, with the default fan curve maxing around 40% in a non air conditioned room

TechZone was doing some EVGA cards, but not sure they still are.

Issue with EVGA cards in NVIDIA 10x series affects only SC & FTW versions of the card. Solution to it is straight forward and accessible.

I very much doubt the RMA rates shared here, especially when it's shared by someone with vested interest in promoting PALIT. & Palit may own Gainward. but Gainward and Palit aren't the same cards.

Why do people these days have a fixation for clocks? You can download MSI afterburner and adjust clocks.

Palit doesn't 'own' Gainward. They are one and the same, made in the same factory and sold by the same people. Palit owns Galax and sells to PNY (among others), so while they might share coolers, PCBs and technologies, they may differ in certain ways.

The only way that Palit and Gainward cards differ are in clock speeds. Take a look at any review with a teardown and see for yourself :)

@Rzee read this^^

know your facts before you go on trying to prove people wrong.  I promoted palit here because i know how many palit cards fail against any other board partner's cards.  I work part time at a computer store's technical section so I surely have a broader view of how many cards fail from which brand.

Yep! You are right... The merger took place back in 2005. Except for few aesthetic changes and clock speeds, Gainward & Palit are the same. & thank you for wasting my 2 hours, spent on reading articles to confirm the relationship between Gainward & Palit.

to everyone defending EVGA look at the amount of posts regarding EVGA cards here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/

I don't see why someone has to buy a card and then wait for them to ship you a thermal mod and then take the card apart and install a thermal mod...

also every card, every piece of hardware is prone to failure. some arrive dead on arrival.

I'm quite happy with my Zotac it runs quiet and cool.

I can't really speak for Palit. My trusted sources for parts and reviews when I was abroad have been newegg and NCIX and neither of them carry the Palit Gtx 10xx series. So I can't really say if it's any better or worse.

I guess if you're in SL you can go for it since there's a dealer for Palit here so dealing with warranty stuff if there are any issues shouldn't be that hard. In then end it's all mostly the same, minor differences in speeds, EVGA catching fire. it all comes down to design style, brand name and how the company handles warranty.

I'd like to remind everyone to please stay on topic, The OP Asked where he can find a EVGA Card, a simple "Not available" Would have sufficed.

Also, I can't remember a 100%, but didn't one Shop in unity (can't remember the name) Carry EVGA Card? Was it Barclays or TechZone?

Although I do not recommend buying from those shops.

I saw evga stuff in techzone, but they were 750 ti or something, not 1050 i am sure. maybe they will bring only after 750ti cards are gone. still for 22000. "sri lanka"
but they can sometimes really save your day in colombo if redline or egs fails you in my experience.
