Starting out a youtube channel
« on: January 18, 2016, 06:08:19 pm »
hello gamers.

im starting a youtube channel finally (fact is the channel is 7years old and i didnt had the opportunity to maintain it)
now that i have lots of free time on my hands, i would like to hear your opinion and advice on the matter.
lately ive been uploading game streams and gameplays, unfortunately high quality stream becoming impossible, network is getting lots of spikes resulting loss of frames(typical sri lankan shit its a gampaha region issue. no problem on kadawatha area sigh), so ill be uploading local record live videos.
i enjoy live commenting videos, i also wanted to try this and its really fun!

here is the link https://www.youtube.com/user/djvecool

so check it out, and let me know your comments and advice.
cheers  :)

I'll pass on what I learned during my brief but successful stint with YouTube.

Have a regular schedule. Try to stick to it as well. I used to upload at least one video a day when I began. Then it got to the point where I would have at least 5 videos a week.

Join a network. Cannot tell you how many networks are present out there. Heck even I have my own. Choose wisely before partnering. It would be wise to join a network with no lock on till you get a good subscriber base.

Spam advertise. I know this is bad but it worked for me lol, even though it took a while. Joined many Facebook groups, spammed it with my vids, got blocked for a few days, spammed again till I stopped because there was no need to :)

Tags. Tags are life, duh. Put proper tags based on your vid. Never, never put tags in your description, they'll delete your channel without warning. That's what happened to me.

Reply to every comment. Trust me, every single comment. Videos with more comments pop up earlier in the searches, so including your replies, there'll be more.

Thumbnails. This is another good one. Don't use vid screenshots as your thumbnail. Create a custom one with Photoshop or whatever. Make it look unique and interesting.

Listen to your subscribers. If they want a video related to what you're doing, do it.

Commentate on videos. This is another added benefit. I didn't do it but if I had, I would have had more subscribers.

Collaborate with other YouTubers For example find another guy who plays World of Tanks and also uploads his gameplay to YouTube collaborate with him (if he accepts), play with him online and upload that gameplay. His subs might subscribe to you, your subs might subscribe to him.

And finally, create a custom YouTube URL. Would help people find your channel more easily.

Well that's it. If I remember any more I'll include them here. TBH I started YouTube with the whole intention of earning some cash but as time progressed I really developed a passion for it. I just loved interacting with my subscribers and loved hearing their criticism Would have loved to do it as my daily job. You can earn a lot but it takes time to get to that level. So you have to be patient.

Woah...shows how much you know about YouTube :) No, your channel will not receive a strike as long as you don't break the rules like uploading copyrighted stuff. Also I didn't tell him to do it. I myself admitted it was bad and tedious, it was just a suggestion.

Also no one said the guy in the pic was me. Lol. I'm a brat? Fair enuf. This is the Internet and you're entitled to your opinion. But then again this is me you're talking about. So STFU? No one asked what you thought of me :) What have I done to irk you? ???

There's tons of partner networks. Various networks have various benefits. This will be listed out on their  site. Also various networks have some requirements before you join them, like a particular number of subs you have. They also make you sign a contract. Make sure you know how many years/months your channel gets locked in for by reading the contract. If it is a 2 year contract, you'll be with them for 2 years and you won't be able to leave before that if you get fed up of the network. Since you're new join a network that has no lock-in, ie one that you can leave at any time, like Freedom! (www.freedom.tm). You can even join the Surge Network which is a sub network of Freedom, owned by a fellow Sri Lankan. You get Freedom! benefits plus more (www.surge.yt)

Good luck :)
