Dota 2 Update - Reborn Beta - September 1, 2015

A 5.8 GB update was released for the Dota 2 Reborn Client. This update does not affect the Dota 2 Main Client in any way. Any ingame previews or videos related to this update will be added to this thread.

With The International behind us and the Majors just around the corner, we are excited to have the world start playing Dota in the brand-new Source 2 engine. Within the coming weeks, the main client will receive the Reborn Update. Moving away from the Source 1 engine soon will allow us to better focus our efforts entirely on Source 2 in preparation for various upcoming tournaments. There are still a few features that will need some work when the update is released, but we plan to finish them quickly. Expect the weeks that follow to focus on ironing out issues, refining the dashboard and iterating based on your feedback. Afterwards, we’ll begin shifting our attention toward the in-game UI, where we plan to redesign the HUD and work on a variety of other in-game features.

Today’s update to Reborn contains various bug fixes and improvements, as well as a large number of backend changes that result in a very large one-time download. Now would be a good time for everyone to start downloading the Reborn update, as you will not need to download it again when the main client receives the update in the coming weeks.

If you do not have the Reborn update installed and would like to get a head start on it now, launch the Dota client and head over to the Play Tab to get set up. All of your items are now in the Reborn client, and after today any new content will be added directly to Source 2 only.

  • Fixed an issue that caused players to take too long to time out, and thus be unable to reconnect quickly

  • Fixed being unable to enter the game after being automatically randomed a hero in Ranked All Pick
  • Fixed a rare case where item combining could cause items to be destroyed
  • Friends list is now sorted correctly
  • Fixed an issue where spectating would sometimes never finish loading
  • Allow editing of the profile card options from your own profile page
  • Fixed some cases of particles not being destroyed correctly
  • Fixed some cases of particle effect models flickering; for example Tusk's Ice Shards
  • Visage's Familiars will now display their ambient particles
  • Fixed Scepter upgraded Demonic Purge being refreshable
  • Winter's Curse and Reaper's Scythe will not prevent Aghanim's upgraded Skeleton King Reincarnation
  • Fixed some cases where trying to purge invisibility effects would cause visual flickering
  • Improved the selection boxes on Winter Wyvern
  • Fixed some cases where incoming voice would affect the audio even when voice volume was set to zero
  • Fixed a bug with reconnecting during ARDM
  • Improved rendering performance on Global Items panel
  • Fixed a bug where SendCustomGameEventToServer wouldn't work correctly on Valve dedicated servers
  • Added SendCustomMessageToTeam scripting function
  • AddCommand bindings are now cleared between games
  • Implemented the player_chat game events
  • PhysicalArmorBaseValue and BaseMagicalResistanceValue are now networked
  • Fixed a bug where setting certain style properties via Javascript could stomp other properties (e.g. setting panel.style.x would stomp panel.style.y)
  • Added the ability to specify the size of a new tile grid or resize an existing tile grid
  • Added shadow filtering for sfm lights, controllable by shadowFilterSize control
  • Added DepthBias and SlopeScaleDepthBias controls to sfm lights
  • Added ambientIntensity control to sfm lights
  • Increased max sfm light count to 32 (max shadowed light count is still 16)
  • Implemented ambient occlusion in sfm
  • Workshop tools are now an optional DLC

Economy Updates

Items
  • Complete item parity between Source 1 and 2 clients. Every other file related to go in parity with that.

Defaults
  • Default Cursor Pack, Weather, Announcer Pack, HUD, Loading Screens and Music added as selectable items in the inventory.

Others
  • Updated animation list on Effigies for heroes that got new animations with the TI5 items.
  • All Trophies now have badge points assigned. These badge points are most likely going to count towards the leveling up of your profile badge.
  • Updated Currency Exchange Rates.
  • Missing Plague Ward ability icon for Venomancer's Splattering Forcipule has been fixed.
  • Missing Eidolon ability icon for Enigma's Geodesic Eidolon has been fixed.
  • Updated portraits for Mega Greevil.

UI Updates
  • Gallery of Triumphs has been renamed to Trophies.
  • Profile Badges have been added up until Level 99.

Front Page
  • The custom game feature tab on the Front Page now randomly selects a top custom game than one particular pre-defined one.

Unreleased
  • A bunch of updates to the unreleased Treasury tab.

Server Updates
  • The missing regions Korea, Dubai and India have been enabled.
  • Entries for Chile and Peru added for still disabled.

Audio Updates
  • A bunch of volume and other minor audio tweaks to a lot of UI related sounds / Announcer Packs and etc.

Hero Updates
  • The hero roles have been updated for all the heroes to represent them better.

String Updates
There's a bunch other strings too but it's mostly stuff you already know or nothing interesting.

Source 1 Related Content
  • Strings have been added for League Admins related stuff.
  • A few tooltip and note updates that were done to the main client too a few days ago.
  • A new chat channel called "Cafe" - most likely a default one that shows up in Valve partnered cafes.
  • Anti-Addition Strings. Shuts down game when you are on it for too long. A cafe / PW related feature.
  • A bunch of new strings related to the newly added cosmetic items.
  • Strings added for the All Hero Challenge.

Interesting
  • Coin Flip: Strings added for a Coin Flip system. You can check this out in private lobbies of the main client by typing - /flip
  • Loadout slot renamed: Custom Base Item to Heroic Effigy.
  • Watching Replays with Friends // couple of strings only

  • Tons of strings related to the Workshop Submission Tool. / upcoming


Console Updates
  • con_enable <0/1> - To enable and disable console.
  • A bunch of new console commands that work with the TI5 stage ability projection system.
  • dota_armory_CustomTagDisplayName_1 <num> - Works with the new inventory tagging system.
  • dota_play_spectate_hero_pick_lines <num> - Enables and disables hero pick lines during spectating.
  • midi_reset_notes <cmd> - Send emergency Note OFF for all active notes on all channels
  • A couple of other random misc commands.
