Dota 2 - Nvidia GT540M problems
« on: November 11, 2014, 11:37:02 am »
As I'm kind of away from home these days I don't get to use my PC. So I kinda play like 2 Dota matches a day at night. So as i'm away I installed Dota on my laptop ( GT540M running 344.60 driver ).

I play at lowest settings possible at 1280x720. But frequently my fps drops at 10fps range even though it can run at 60fps. But when if I play it via Intel HD4000 it runs normally at 40fps and no sudden fps drops. da hell?

Any thoughts that can help? :)

It might be a background app maybe pushing your ram to the limit.. Try running it on gamebooster

I have a similar issue when I leave my laptop on sleep and then play D2. The problem goes away when I restart the lap.

It looks like something else is randomly hogging the CPU usage while you play. Open the task manager and click the CPU tab to sort all the apps based on their CPU usage (must require Win 8 task manager).

From there you can check if anything else other than the game is using the CPU. Typically when gaming all the other apps must have less than 1% CPU usage.

No sir, they are all fine..

Google says it's a problem most GT540m owners have. There are number of threads. Sigh looks like there is no such solution.

Have same problem and coudn't find a solution :(

It works fine for some games like AC and borderlands 2 for me, but dota2 had constant drops in framerates. Occurs more when CPU usage is high and temp is high.
