Ostry KC06A

Ostry KC06A Vs. VSonic VC1000

Ostry KC06A

Since there are plenty of reviews of the Ostry IEM in the net, I will do a comparison between the Vsonic VC1000, which is a $120 IEM, roughly twice the price.

So is it as Twice as Good?

VSonic VC1000

Price
Vsonic VC1000: $120
Ostry KC06A: $60 - 70

Looks & Build
Ostry for sure. These look gorgeous. They look great in every angle. Ostry looks cool. They look like IEMs that are 2, 3 times their price. The VC1K looks cheap compared to it. But the VC1K feels a bit sturdier.
Winner: Ostry

Comfort
Vsonic hands down. The most comfortable iems I've ever worn. I can only use the small tips, even that is a tight fit.
the VC1K's R so comfortable that sometimes you forget that you are even wearing them.

The Ostry's smallest "Detail tips" are quite large. So its a bit uncomfortable but may change after I get the "Red bore tips"
Winner: Vsonic

Bass
Simply the Ostry annhilates the Vsonic with its Bass. And I'm using the "Detail tips" which incidentally has the least amount of bass compared to the other 2 tips variants. (bass & balanced tips).
The bass hits damn hard, goes deeper & have a bit of rumble to them. And yes the bass detailing is damn fine too. Reminds me a bit of the AudoTechnica M50.
Winner: Ostry

Mids
Ostry's mids & vocals are very foward compared to the Vsonic. I thought the Vsonic's vocals were foward compared to my other iems. But the Ostry is even more forward. The Vsonic's mids are laid back & sounds beautiful compared to the in your face kind of mids & vocals of the Ostry, but instruments are more detailed. In-fact all the instruments sound far more detailed in the Ostry. But the downside is all of them feels like playing at the same high volume. So it is fatiguing. Vsonic's smoother & creamy mids & vocals feels far more relaxing.
Winner: Both have completely different mids & vocal presentations. Cant decide.
TIED

Treble
Ostry has a lot of sparkle to its Treble. They are wonderful. Vsonic has a small Treble roll-off. But its very easy on the ears. Treble detailing is better.
Ostry: Good sparkling Highs. Better Treble Quantity.
Vsonic: Smooth Highs. Small Treble roll-off but better Treble detailing.

Soundstage width
Ostry by far. Has a much bigger Soundstage than the Vsonic or any other IEM that I own. On some occasions it extends beyond your head.
Vsonic feels like you are listening to the band from the 1st or 2nd row.
Ostry feels like you are in the middle, the singer right in front of you screaming away & the band playing around you. So the overall effect is much louder.
Winner: Ostry

Instrument separation/Layering/Soundstage depth
Vsonic scores a big win with all of these. There is no layering in the Ostry. Although the instrument detailing is better, it feels like they are played at the same distance. So instrument separation suffers a lot. Vsonic does layering & instrument separation much better. In a full Orchestra piece the difference between the 2 is quite noticeable. Just shows where the extra $60 of the Vsonic went in development. Its technically the better IEM of the 2.
Winner: x3 Vsonic

Summary
Ostry: Better Bass quantity, detail, & hits harder. Forward mids & vocals. Large Sound stage. Better detailing. Good full Treble. Looks damn cool.
In your face all the time. Inferior layering, instrument separation making all the instruments sound at the same level.

Vsonic: Less Bass quantity compared to the ostry. Less foward mids & vocals. Smoother. Smoother Treble but better Treble detail. Good instrument separation & better layering although it has a smaller soundstage.

2 entirely different IEMs. Although the Ostry is technically Inferior to the Vsonic, for almost half its price this thing puches well above its price range. On some areas it out performs the $120 IEM in a big way.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED  (Y)

My budget is Rs 3,000. I just listen to music while on the bus. Can anyone suggest me a good set of ear buds? Thanks. Some nice equipment here but most are out of my budget.

Had the same reason to buy some months ago.
Bought the Sennheiser Cx213 when redline had a discount for it. (Rs2400)

I listen to rock most of the time so the emphasis on bass is not for me. Can't hear a thing outside when in the bus, don't really prefer this as well. BUt fine with the purchase because it sounds good for me even with the bass+rock combo :)

Definetely good to use in the bus. Except the thin cord always gets tangled. I'm not bothered by it though.
Give it a listen and see.

I also mostly listen to Hindi songs and Classical Rock. Bass would be nice but do not need it to an extreme level. I want to enjoy very clear music and voice.

How classical do you mean? Led Zeppelin?  ;D

I can't really enjoy vocals or accoustic guitar with the cx213(compared to the ue600 I have). I didn't expect it to be good, just wanted to use it in the bus. So have no compaints. It was better than what I wanted anyway. Noise isolation is superb if you're wondering about that.

Again, give it a listen if you happen to go to redline (or somewhere that has it). I didn't try out other earphones before buying so someone else here should be able to give a better recommendation.  ::)

Sennheiser PC 363D!!!!
Suberb!!
Extremely Comfortable!
Top notch Sounds!

Was goona go for the Sennheiser HD 558 Headphones but after a long discussion got to the conclusion that PC363D is worth the money.
Cause the 363D has similar drivers to the HD598 and plus you get 7.1 virtual surround sounds. Very happy with the purchase.  (Y)
