GCDL Rules and regulations (Dota 2)!
« on: October 06, 2013, 05:51:57 pm »
A new GCDL, a new Dota game and therefore new rules!
General Information
GCDL is played on the Dota 2 main client.
The Dota 2 client is available for download from the Steam client for free.

Tournament Rules:
All players participating must be from Sri Lanka. Their IP address must be Sri Lankan. This has been updated, any teams who intended on having a Sri Lankan player from a different country may replace a current member of their roster with that player. Please contact any of the admins (see: below)
Individual players participating in multiple teams is strictly forbidden and appropriate action will be taken on complicit parties

General Gameplay Rules
  • Competition method: 5 vs. 5
  • Match Format: Double elimination
The Winner's bracket will be best of 3
The Loser's bracket will be best of 1

  • Match Winner: Determined by the destruction of the enemy teams ancient or surrender
Game settings
  • Version- Most latest Dota 2 Tournament version at the time of the match
  • Game mode- Captains mode
  • Server- South East Asia (Singapore)
Coin toss: The team picking Radiant or Dire side first will be determined via coin toss. A separate coin toss will be held for which team chooses first pick.

Scheduling Games:
Matches will be scheduled on all days of the week.
Weekday Timing: 8PM - 11PM
Weekend timing: 12noon - 9PM

Game schedule and draw will be posted on the GCDL subforum.
GCDL organisers will make every effort to inform the teams of scheduled match dates and times - but please note it is the responsibility of the teams to check their game time and date. Not attending a match due to not being informed of the schedule is NOT an excuse.

Both teams scheduled to play at a certain time should be present inside their game lobby 10 minutes before start time. It would be best if team captains contact their relevant referee as soon as possible on that day.

  • If a team fails to have all 5 players ready by 20 minutes after the start time, the game will be awarded to their opponents.
  • If a team fails to have all 5 players available 40 minutes after the start of their first match, they will be knocked out and their opponents will progress to the next round.

Re-scheduling Games
If a team is unable to attend a scheduled match, they should inform the organizers at least 3 days prior to the scheduled date. At this point, the organizers will contact the opponent team, and if they agree, a match re-schedule will be organized. If the opponent team does not agree, the team unable to attend will forfeit the match. Requesting a re-schedule less than 3 days prior to the scheduled date is NOT allowed.

Cheating:
Intentional bug abuse or ghosting is disallowed, and doing so will result in automatic disqualification. A list of known bugs are available at the Dota dev forums.
Pause abuse will result in automatic disqualification at the discretion of the referee
A game is not official unless the approved referee is present in the game. The steam ID of the referees will be given to participants when the schedule is announced.
If there is an issue with your referee, or if you have a good reason to request a different referee, please contact either myself or Raveen via private message.

These will be the official GCDL rules for the upcoming GCDL Season 7.
Rules are subject to change prior to the tournament beginning.

Are standins allowed? Or is the team only allowed to use their substitute or forfeit the match if all 5 dont show up on time?

Standins are not allowed, outside the provided substitute.

I guess we can check and see if we will allow an extra substitute to be named for each team since the tournament will go on for about a month. But yeah we won't allow any changes during the tournament

Games will be paused for a period of time deemed appropriate by the referee for reconnecting.

Winner bracket is bo3 and loser bracket is bo1, so I'm guessing every team's first match will be a bo3?

This is indeed correct. However, there is a small chance initial rounds will be bo1 for both brackets if there are time constraints.

It's a double elimination tournament that is played online. we will be playing 2/3 games per day so it would take around 3-4 weeks for everything to finish
