Fumito Ueda left Sony

He is, however, "committed to completing" The Last Guardian as a contractor.

The initial report suggested Ueda, the creator of beloved PS2 titles Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, would continue to work with Team Ico "in a freelance capacity" to help finish its current project, The Last Guardian. Sony initially declined to comment, though Ueda himself took to Twitter to confirm he was still working on the game. He made no mention of his employment status.

Sony has now finally decided to confirm the news in a statement sent to Gamasutra. Ueda is no longer an employee but is "committed to completing" The Last Guardian as a contractor.

A great creative mind hope he will do at his best to complete "The Last Guardian" even though he's not with Sony anymore.
