My submission for Monster Rig Competition 2011
« on: November 10, 2011, 10:52:32 am »
Hey guys, so i heard about this amazing competition, so this is me submitting my current project in the line...
Keep in mind that i have focused a LOT in performance and customization of the machine more than accessories because i have to reserve money for my education from my earnings. So you may not see some fancy mouse or keyboard or monitor. So yea, here are my specs.

Owner: helhound0 (Nick Razzleflamm)
Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth X58 (bios 1201)
Processor: Intel i7 950 Bloomfield
Hard drive: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200Rpm
Graphics card: Evga gtx 560Ti Superclocked
Memory: Mushkin enhanced Radioactive 998974
Sound: Onboard 7.1
CPU cooler: Cooler master V6GT (BEST MODDERS' AIR COOLING SOLUTION EVER)
PSU: Inwin Commander 850W
Casing: Cooler master HAF932 (will explain mods below)
Monitor: Samsung B1930 (I know i know it's embarrassing..)
Speaker system: Creative inspire 265 2.0 and LG FE 5620WE/FE 5620TE custom 5.1 home theater system
Keyboard: 12 Year old IBM mechanical keyboard which beats the blackwidow... (:P) (Serious)
Mouse: i don't know the model but it's from an EZY PC......
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 + Windows Midori Developer preview x64

Overclocks
Processor: 3.5Ghz (146x24)
Memory: 1751Mhz 9-9-9-24 @ 1.65v ( also, 1600Mhz 7-9-7-24 @ 1.5v)
Graphics: Pc/Mc-2000/2200 (default 1800/2106)

Case Mods
This is the part where i concentrated the most in this build. The theme of my machine is Medusa, which wikipedia describes as:

"In Greek mythology Medusa was a Gorgon, a chthonic monster, and a daughter of Phorcys and Ceto. The author Hyginus, interposes a generation and gives Medusa another chthonic pair as parents. Gazing directly upon her would turn onlookers to stone. She was beheaded by the hero Perseus, who thereafter used her head as a weapon until he gave it to the goddess Athena to place on her shield. In classical antiquity the image of the head of Medusa appeared in the evil-averting device known as the Gorgoneion."

Green is the color that came into my head when i thought of this fabulous theme. So for the first phase of my project, i painted all the meshes of my HAF932 green.and painted the rest of the casing matte black.

(the following video contains some pictures of me and dad painting the casing: )

Then, as the second phase, i designed a full acrylic side panel for it.
And, the latest was the drive bay and power supply covers i made the day before yesterday.

My rig is still under construction. I still have some cool ideas for future mods. But yea. this is what i have currently.
Enjoy!!!

I know, the back of the casing is not as simple as the front... But that's the point of cable management....

Oh yea! i forgot this! And thanks LeoN for reminding me. :)

I like how creative you've got with the whole YouTube clip and all. I'm pretty sure even those little details enhance your chance of winning the comp. Nicely done and that's one hell of a beast I must say!
