got a problem here.........i downloaded the 1.7 no wait patch which is 1.3 mb (not believable) and now i cant play single player or multiplayer so pls help im very new to cod 4 i normally play cs

I'm guessing your current version of COD4 is 1.7
If so try applying these patches. They are what I'm using and they work fine.

ok start u r cod4 from iw3mp.exe in u r cod4 installed folder and
then go to join server->choose source to favorite-> press new favorite->and now enter IP of hosting server like 206.222.14.138:28960 and press OK. thats IT ! after that double click u r new save IP.(may be this Ip not working one if so u can find Ip's from my friend  :)pulasthi's topic-http://www.gamer.lk/index.php/topic,1144.0.html)

I had a problem where whenever I joined the server, the game would crash with an unreadable error message (hidden behind the crashed game).

So I did a clean install of the game... When I tried to patch it, both the 1.6 and 1.6 --> 1.7 patch said that the game was already patched (maybe the patch data is in another directory?), and now when I try to join the server, I get a message like "code_post_gfx_mp.ff is different from the server" or something... Not sure what this is...

And in case you're wondering, I have the latest version of punkbuster installed... Can anyone help meh? Thanks in advance...

hmm no idea bro..may be try exiting xfire and play cod4..GL

I wasnt using xfire at the time..

It looks like a mismatch between the server's version of something and mine... I strongly suspect that the updates failed.. I think some remnant of my previous installation is still hiding somewhere, telling the patch installer that the game is already patched... I looked through the AppData folders and everything, but I cant find any directories containing cod4 files...

I hope I find a solution soon... The single player was awesome (completed it on hardened, now doing veteran), but too short...

May u should uninstall cod4 again then restart use a registry cleaner after that. Try the regristry cleaner that comes with tuneup utilities.
