Anyone need any help in Dragon Age series?
« on: May 16, 2011, 04:02:55 pm »
Post all the problems you run into in playing Dragon Age Orgins, Awakenings and Dragon Age 2, I "might" be able to help you with it.

Please keep in mind that I might not be able to help you with complicated programming problems or hardware problems, but you can post them anyways, and someone who has experience in that side can help you. But I can give help for seemingly impossible battles, quest related questions and other stuff related the in-game situations.

Alright, give me your best shot. :)

Well, the thing about health poultices in Dragon Age Origins is, like you said, not having enough. So, you have to be creative.
It's more effective to create them rather than buy them, because there aren't much to be bought in shops.
You need to have these things though,

1. A character with first level Herbalism (Improved herbalism is better as you'll be able to make Health Poultices rather than Lesser Health Poultices)

2. An adequate supply of Elf-root (For an unlimited supply you need to have saved the Elves by either killing the werewolves or by turning the werewolves into humans. The Dalish craftsman Varathorn has an unlimited supply)

3. An adequate supply of Flasks (Infinitely available in Bodahn Feddic's Shop)

4. An adequate supply of Distillation Agents (Also available infinitely at Bodahn Feddic's Shop)

5. The health poultice recipe can be obtained from these places,

    Figor, Orzammar, 66 Silver
Lloyd, Redcliffe, 72 Silver 60 Bronze
Bartender, Gnawed Noble Tavern, 72 Silver 60 Bronze
Quartermaster, Ostagar, 75 Silver 90 Bronze
Varathorn, Dalish Camp, 79 Silver 20 Bronze

I usually had about 99 of health poultices whenever I was going to do a really hard battle.

Hint :- Use the tactics menu to put a tactic which makes them drink the health poultice when their health drops down to 50% or 25%. This will make it easier as you won't have to pause and make them drink a health poultice every time their health drops down.

Good luck ;)

Yes you can, and Morrigan has "Improved Herbalism" initially so you can use her to make the poultices. :)

Hahaa.... Good old Morrigan, I remember giving her gifts to raise rep for some real gaming ;) :)

BTW Xiaoqiao is Dragon Age 2 good? I still couldn't play it and is it true that you can continue Dragon Age Awakening with your Dragon Age character?

lol..but in my opinion Morrigan is a crappy mage..i mean come on! what good does the shapeshifter specialization do? Wyne is MUCH better considering she is a spirit healer...combine that with Arcane Warrior and viola!

Yes, Dragon age 2 is good. I was skeptic at first, because they have gone out of their way to make the game extremely similar to Mass Effect but after some time I actually began to enjoy it. Although the areas which we can explorer is a bit limited when considering the massive environment given to us in DA Origins. But there are a few key factors that I actually like about DA2, although the one which stands out through all others is the presence of a  Fully voiced character, as opposed to the fully quiet warden in DA Origins. ;)

Yup, you can continue Dragon Age Awakenings with the character you made in Origins, but you have the option to create a new character and if done so, it will choose a default ending for Origins and the equipment and in level 18. Also the warden would be Orlesian and the people would show suspicion towards you, rather than admiration as the imported warden would have ended the 5th blight by defeating the Archdemon.

Also, a save from the continued story from Awakenings and all the happenings of Origins can be imported to Dragon age 2 when starting the game and the game would change some quests and plots and even certain dialogues according to what you did in Awakenings and Origins. They also take certain flag points from DLC such as The Witch Hunt and The Warden's Keep.

lol..but in my opinion Morrigan is a crappy mage..i mean come on! what good does the shapeshifter specialization do? Wyne is MUCH better considering she is a spirit healer...combine that with Arcane Mage and viola!
There's a mod that extends the abilities of a Shapeshifter. It gives them the ability to change into the High Dragon even. But all the creatures are unlocked after you killed that specific creature before hand.  ;) So, with that mod, a Shapeshifter can be made powerful, but it actually seem like cheating though. Here's the mod if anyone is interested,

But on the other hand, Wynne is actually really good, but on my last playthrough i used Morrigan instead of Wynne (whom I used for two playthroughs) because my own character was a mage with healing powers and Morrigan was also made a Spirit Healer which means a lot less health Poultices :)

Alright, anyone else have any problem they encountered in DA? :)

for me DA2 was a dissapointment...way too dumbed down..didnt have an interesting story...compared to New Vegas which was a damn good RPG, DA2 just tried to cater to every one but  failed on most fronts..ME2 was different because it was more fo a Si-Fi shooter...but a fantacy saga based RPG should fail if it tried to be like ME2..

Witcher 2 is out..hav very good reviews not only by the critics but a lot of RPF fans as well...lets see
Fiio X1 + Fiio E17 > VSonic VC100 / Ostry KC06A
Notebook + JRiver 20 > Fiio E17 > Sony MDR MA900
OnePlus One > SoundMagic E10
