Blizzard DOTA
« on: November 28, 2010, 11:27:15 am »

Quote
After having so many DotA Genre games like League of Legends, Heroes Of Newerth and Valve's DotA 2. The PC games giant Blizzard has announced 4 new maps for StarCraft 2 on the opening day of BlizzCon 2010. Surprisingly, Blizzard's DotA was one of it. Blizzard developers said that StarCraft 2 DotA will be based on Warcraft 3 DotA by IceFrog. All the heroes, items, farming even the whole gameplay style will be implemented in the upcoming Blizzard's DotA.

It's a matter of which game to buy, since there is a cost involved. It's multiplayer, so your usual download and play everything in sight method doesn't work here.

ok so maybe for this set of games there is a point. but still, if you remember when hon was in open beta people were still arguing which to play, when cost was actually not an issue.

The fact remains that HoN, DotAvalve and DotABlizzard will all have a cost. And I don't know that many gamers willing to buy 1, let alone all 3.

Agreed it's not being the best all the time, it's all about enjoying the game.

Btw is Blizzard trying to incorporate characters from Warcraft DotA as well as characters from Starcraft in a single game/map? coz that's what I got from the poster :S
starcraft noob here.

It's every bit like Blizzard to copy. WoW is a collection of copied MMO concepts first implemented by other developers.

And every MMO is based off Dungeons and Dragons, some way or another, your point?

That it is like Blizzard to copy, citing WoW as evidence of that.

As for your assumption that every MMO is based off D&D, not every MMO is a traditional MMORPG. There are quite a handful of MMOs whose mechanics are not even remotely similar to D&D.
