Hardware / Peripherals / Re: BEST VGA CARD FOR 14000rs??
« on: August 22, 2012, 08:18:23 am »
Currently, stocks on the GTX 550 Ti is running out, as NVIDIA has stopped making those chips. Best deal if you budget can go upto 18K would be a Radeon HD 7750, which gives you GTX 550Ti performance, support for DirectX 11.1 and PCI-E 3.0 without a separate power connector (can be run on low end PSUs)

Hardware / Peripherals / Bit-tech & Custom PC 2012 Awards
« on: August 22, 2012, 07:50:40 am »
So guys, here it is. The Oscar awards for enthusiast PC hardware. The 2012 awards were announced 2 months ago, and thought it's worth sharing.

If you go back over the last few years, you'd notice that on most occasions, the winner is the same this year as well (e.g Asus for motherboards, Corsair for RAM and PSUs). Major changes this year are the separation of NVIDIA and AMD cards, and the inclusion of a runner up, bringing companies like Gigabyte, G-Skill, Sapphire and XFX into the awards. Another major surprise (maybe not for those whore are aware of current developments) is Asus being ranked no. 2 on NVIDIA graphics cards, with MSI taking #1 spot.

You'd notice that I'm being impartial in sharing this info. Yes guys, if you have your doubts, Corsair remains no.1 memory maker, but G-Skill is ranked #2, so if you can't afford paying the premium for Corsair, you can't do better than G-Skill.

And for SSDs, as expected, OCZ continues to be #1, with Corsair coming in as runner up.

Here is the much awaited link :)

If you're not sure where to buy the featured brands, here's the list.

Asus - Large range at Redline Technologies and EGS and a few models at Lapzone and Unity Plaza shops
Corsair - Redline Technologies, Sarah Tech
Gigabyte - Large range at Redline Technologies, lower end models available at most shops
MSI - No proper dealer ATM, especially for the awesome graphics cards
G-Skill - Tech Zone
OCZ - EGS
Antec - EGS, Redline Technologies
Cooler Master (awesome for cases, not so much with PSUs) - Redline Technologies, Barclays, Lapzone
Sapphire - Lapzone, most Unity Plaza shops (you'll only find the low end for now though)
XFX - Redline Technologies (no stocks currently due to pricing issues)
Netgear - Available soon through Redline Technologies
Zalman - Redline Technologies (only cases ATM)
Thermaltake - Redline Technologies (only cases ATM, modding items very soon hopefully)

Hardware / Peripherals / Re: Best VGA Card for 10000rs?
« on: June 27, 2012, 08:30:03 am »
try da sapphire radeon 6450 2gb ddr3...its abt 9500rs.
What???? HD 6450 is worth only 6K. Stay away from that deal.

If you have a decent PSU(400W) grab this one for 11k http://gamer.lk/index.php/topic,17583.msg268850.html#new
Decent deal if you are okay with second hand. Minimum PSU for this would be a genuine 350W for a non-overclocked average system.

If you are looking for brand new, best deal in town is the Axle GT 440 2GB DDR3 @ 9.5K. It can be powered by a stock PSU.

Perhaps not any time soon. You can get the Asus HD 7750 for 19.5K with 3 years warranty.

Is HD 6670 / GT 640 in-stock now ?
Probably won't get the 6670 again, but expect the GT 640 to arrive towards the end of next month.

Nope, sorry. Any card in that range isn't capable for any serious gaming.
