General / Re: Gaming Tournament for Charity?
« on: July 13, 2017, 06:47:20 am »
It would be an event open to all to register regardless of skill level, clan, etc
Thumbs up just for that thought, because gaming nowadays are all about "bragging" and there's no real unity.

Don't know about the charity thing though, maybe consider "gaming in sri lanka" itself as a charity? Because there are many things that can be improved, at least until someone can host something as big as "DreamHack" locally, that would be crazy, or promote this sport even more for the unknown. :D

Would Discord be a viable solution for COD4 gamers who do not have a proper client like Xfire to communicate on anymore?
Hell yeah it is bruh. Specially for all those cracked gamers, finally some professional client to look at. Xfire? pfft...

Do these packages truly offer unlimited downloading at good speeds?
No. Their system is smart to throttle you back to stone age speeds and limit the overall data download, which forces you to buy a bigger postpaid monthly package.

Is it worth buying a console with our internet being ridiculously capped?

Game Lounge / Re: Which ISP is the best for gaming?

A lot of people don't know that Dialog will fix an external antenna for your connection if you press them enough. I used to get 4-5 Mbps on the standard Huawei router and ping in the 50s at best. After they fixed the antenna (which comes with a new router and everything as well, though I don't use it) I get 30-35 Mbps on average with 10ms ping. More than decent enough for FPS.
Oh. Bad thing is I don't even have 4G. I use an old Dialog 3G connection, poor me trolelel. :)

Only those who offer wired connections obviously. And who is the only one to offer wired connections in Sri Lanka? Of course, the legend, SLT. But be ready for one hell of technical issues, because after all it's wired.

About 4G, wireless will never be a good option for gaming. I mean it works well, but I would say that technology is not there yet. Maybe 5G will fix it all, who knows.

About text channels, what suggestions for text channels do you have?
Don't have an exact suggestion about it right now, but just wanted to ask. Anyways, good luck with the server, I see some users actually using it and trying to adapt.

It's about time that you guys move to Discord. TeamSpeak 3 is slowly fading away due to their own crappy business model. VOIP or chat softwares aren't a big deal anymore, it's like Facebook, everything is getting free for the mainstream. Not to mention Discord is actually the next level or how should I call it, like the "modern gamer" type thing and it offers way more features than any TeamSpeak 3 server. Discord API is also something that your site can use for logins, and verify identities of people both in your Discord and here in the forum. By the way, I also don't see any usable text channels in your Discord, makes sense because maybe you guys wanted to move all the text activity into the forum? Not everyone like to use the mic/voice activity though. ;)

RPG / MMO / Re: Any active Ark Survival Evolved servers in Sri Lnaka?
« on: June 16, 2017, 09:04:45 pm »
Don't know about any Sri Lankan servers for ARK. But there are some servers from Singapore in GameTracker. Try those, you might get some low ping there.

Well, you already posted your advertisement, good luck! :D

Call of Duty 4 (COD4) / Re: What happened to Dialog COD4 Server ?
« on: June 04, 2017, 08:31:50 pm »
Basically, it can be sued no matter where it's hosted. But depending on the country, the illegality and legality to host pirated software varies. Law is something that can be twisted here and there so no one will know who will win if such a court case actually happens. But I think the real reason is that the game maker doesn't actually care and the amount of money that need to be spent researching on such piracy cases are so damn high. So it's not really worth it unless they gain some huge amount of cash out of such legal cases. They certainly don't want to go against a certain person who host or make those pirated files, because their life will be ruined in jail after that.

First Person Shooters / Re: Wolfenstein: The New Order

There are still some who plays Wolfestein Enemy Territory. It's an older brother of this newer game, but they still play it. They goes by the name WolfSL, and they seem to play in their servers once in a while.

for those who are unable to download some torrents because of their crappy internet, use this website for direct downloading your torrent, but the free offer is only limited for torrent files below 1GB. hope this helps someone:

Game Lounge / Re: Reduce ping on a dongle?

you can try getting some better reception(usb cable/external antenna), switching to 3G WCDMA Band only in Mobile Partner, switching to 4G LTE, keeping the network utilized and run some active downloads in the background while playing games, disable all unwanted software updates and tweak up some registry settings. for a list of registry setting refer:
