Very unlikely that you'll find one right now. We should get stocks later this month at Redline Technologies.

At the price range you are looking at, MSI GP60 and Gigabyte Q2556N V2 are the best all round winners. Asus N series is great too but the i5 versions are not available locally.

The 3 big mobo makers build some of the best laptops.

Fact is the MSI CR61 is by far the best laptop at that budget. It has the fast Core i5 4200M as opposed to 4200U found in most 4th gen laptops in that range, Intel HD 4600 trumps the Geforce 820M, and it runs pretty cool.

We also sell the Asus X550 series if that's what interests you. It is built better than many other laptops in the range, but loses to the CR61 in build quality and performance.

Check out Ultimate Ears if you are interested.

What would your budget be?

Also a point to note is that being made by a top OEM is not a guarantee of quality. For example, some of Corsair's top PSUs come from Flextronics, a massive OEM. They are top notch products because Corair demands that level of quality from the OEM. However, there are some pretty mediocre PSUs coming from Flextronics as well.

An example outside PSUs would be Foxconn, who make the motherboards for Apple, which are top of the line quality, but made some crappy motherboards for Intel and under their own name.

Hardware / Peripherals / Re: Suggestions for a monitor

PLS is basically Samsung's version of IPS.
Spot on.

However, despite the technology being very similar, the implementation and color calibration can be very different.

Samsung launched these budget PLS monitors only few months ago and according to reviews the input lag is one of the lowest seen in its class, and color accuracy is top notch, making them better for gaming than any of the budget IPS monitors.

Read this review. The review that made us decide in favor of these monitors.

http://www.trustedreviews.com/samsung-s24d590pl_Monitor_review

Items are expected by mid September. They come in 24" (S24D590PL) and 27" (S27D590P).

Great! Thanks.. I'll try this out.. (Y)
Haha.. Seems like all are using 280X Vapor X's!  :D
The 280X is one of the best GPUs for your money and VaporX is one of the best coolers under the sun. Winning formula!

AFAIK you should get your replacement first week of August, since they are getting a new shipment.

Just to make a quick example of the service we aspire towards, we recently along with the MSI distributors have gone to the extent of pleading to and getting MSI to replace a GTX 770 that was taken out by lightning after couple of weeks from purchase.

We will always go that extra mile whenever we can. However, recently, we have had couple of lapses due to the unavoidable reasons, but we are working promptly on fixing these issues.

I hope it is quite clear here that the warranty was being provided by the distributor. As for backup, I have already pointed out that it is the responsibility of the dealer to arrange it at their cost as we always do for our customers. In this scenario we stepped in to try and speed up the warranty for you despite not being directly bound. It looks like Shads took the opportunity here to try and force is to take responsibility for the backup as well. You need to understand that this is clearly unfair.

Now guys I have already accepted that a couple of mishaps have happened and we owe anyone who was on the receiving end a sincere apology. The scenario here though is in no way a mishap on our part but an attempt by Shads to make us look like the bad guys to keep their hands clean.

In your situation I too think asking for a backup from Redline for something that you brought from somewhere & when they refuse blaming RL is very unethical and kinda stupid. Besides if the 2 cards were sent to Shad's by the request from the distributor then frankly I don't see why RL have to do anything since that was a credit sales transfer from the distributor to Shad's by the request from distributor.

Anyway aside from the original situation I too have heard more than few bad things about RL for few months now from various people about warranty claiming, customer responding & customer serving, the way reps act when people go to RL store, pricing etc... Not gonna name them since they are my friends and some are active members here & these guys praised RL a lot when they started. How I know about this? well I too am planning to upgrade my vga soon and for months have been doing research about shops in SL. Something to look and think about RL if you want I guess. Also I have no hatred towards RL or affiliation with any pc shops here & brought stuff from them only through mo.lk, just posting what I heard.
Thanks for pointing out. We are humans and with the workload occassional mishaps are possible. We ar working on a seperate forum or similar for customer grievances which will be handled with utmost priority. Also, await a fully organized Redline service center soon.

Thanks to you guys we have grown. But with the growth we are unable to cope using the current RMA process. We sincerely hope that the issues will be sorted soon.

Just to point out again, this is purely a response to DarKmoN. The claims by iRat are wholely unreasonable and cannot be entertained. We have no hard feelings, but just making things very clear.

i agree with you they are passing the blame for you guys because they couldn't do that, but finally they gave me a 210 backup brand new card as a temporary use, that's not the point im having a warranty issue here its almost 2 weeks do i have to wait until your stock arrive? im stucked with many things over here as a designer and editor i have a lots of works plus as a student im on fire here so at least you guys should do it faster just like shad did with many trouble they gave me a vga but as a big company still you guys cant claim a warranty in two weeks? that's a shame!!

You're missing the point again. Shads will be getting a replacement from Elecro Cheval stock, not ours. Please don't comment without knowing full informaion. You'll end up making a mockery of yourself.

We ordered 10 cards through Elecro Cheval but right after we got the stock Electro Cheval requested us to give couple of cards to Shads. By request from the distributor we passed on two cards at cost. The warranty is owed by the distributor to Shads. The deal was between them.

Distributors generally don't give backup. When we provide backups at Redline, we do it at our cost. We never bother distributors for backups as this is genarally not the practice. When the customer asked for a backup from Shads, they were not willing to bear it, so they passed the blame to us.

Lets us clarify here. We ordered 10 cards through Elecro Cheval but right after we got the stock Electro Cheval requested us to give couple of cards to Shads. By request from the distributor we passed on two cards at cost. The warranty is owed by the distributor to Shads. The deal was between them. Hence all Redline did was to just give up two units on the distributor's request.

Distributors generally don't give backup. When we provide backups at Redline, we do it at our cost. We never bother distributors for backups as this is genarally not the practice. When the customer asked for a backup from Shads, they were not willing to bear it, so they passed the blame to us. It is totally unfair. We have not obligation whatsoever in this deal.

Your accusations are baseless and unsensible.
