Firstly my home computer. We recently had to replace the entire motherboard for it and after that happened, my connection dropped to 32kbps. It's supposed to be 512kbps. (The SLT icon in the taskbar shows 32kbps too, so its like the whole package has changed - which we obviously did not do). Any idea why this might have happened?
I'm thinking it might be something to do with the network card on the motherboard? I don't even know if it has one - my Mom bought it while I was abroad and can't be bothered opening it now lol. Anyways, does the speed of the internet matter with the motherboard card?
Second problem is to do with my laptop and the home ADSL connection. I used the same CD to install the ADSL driver and a connection icon did appear on the taskbar, but it says "No Hardware detected" and the physical modem doesn't power up either. My laptop's using Windows 7.

Gamer.LK Clans Counter Strike League has finally seen the end of its Division A tournament. The end of Division A also marks the beginning of GCCL Season 4's Division B tournament! Ferrari once again took their place as GCCL champions this season with Blood Money and team w0w placing second and third respectively.

These teams will be taking part in division B that is schedule to start on Saturday the 15th May.

Round One of Gamer.LK's Counter Strike Clan's League Season 4 saw the battle of MeetYourRapers Vs. TechMorph and Hitha Honda Chandi Vs. HaWks, providing us with an awesome night of pwnage.
Hitha Honda Chandi managed to pull off a very convincing win against HaWks, coming up with a flawless victory of 16-0. They advance to round two where they await their opponent from the S.W.A.Ts Vs. w0w match taking place later today.
MeetYourRapers and TechMorph refused to let the other win in their battle, constantly going back and forth with the rounds. Ultimately however, TechMorph managed to gain the victory, with a score of 16-13, allowing them to advance to face off against the defending champions, Ferrari on the 23rd of March.
Gamer.LK Clans Counter Strike League once more begins its epic journey tonight. Utilizing a slightly different format this time around to accommodate the changes made to both new and old teams, GCCL will still guarantee a month of heavy competition. To start off this season, we have four teams that will face off in the first preliminary rounds. MeetYourRapers will verse TechMorph at 8pm today while Hitha Honda Chandi and HaWks prepare for their match at 10pm.

For the first time ever, GLK will be hosting a Heroes of Newerth tournament. This will not be a professional league just yet however. It will be more of a fun tournament until we learn whether the full version of HoN will be free-to-play or not.
Nevertheless, competition is bound to be fierce as six teams kick off the tournament at 8pm tonight. KnighTs will compete against MuDBLooD SquaD; team B of Legion of Death will verse Falsus Divertimento lolwut? and Blood Money and team 2 of Death Company face off against each other as well.
Who will achieve the first ever championship in competitive Sri Lankan Heroes of Newerth? Only time will tell.

*Im looking for a well balanced laptop - one that can handle creating videos/images efficiently along with being able to play upcoming games reasonably well (medium settings are fine with me - I just want to be able to experience the games for myself ). *Battery life + Heat is important for me. I dont intend on playing games outside my dorm (except for LAN parties, but they have power outlets there). Outside the dorm (and thus outside the power sockets), it will be purely for studies. Thus the laptop needs to stay cool + quiet and be able to run for at least 3 hours. *As for size + weight - less bulkier, the better.

Most of ya'll are saying to get the Gateway - but thats 9 pounds, battery life apparently averages at 2-3 hours...and heats up considerably without a cooling pad.

The MSI from AVA looks promising. The $900 tag fooled me for a bit...then I noticed that didnt include an OS, an adapter and no WiFi >_< I messed around with the configs and came up with:

BUT...my main concern with the above is...how reliable is this AVA Direct? Ive been looking at laptops on and off for most of this month and I never saw this company or its laptops (read about it in a post on this site for the first time yesterday).
This is a problem Ive been having quite often. Didnt mind it that much but now Im getting really annoyed. The background:
I have 2x512 RAM sticks and they both work fine. However, if theres a sudden powercut, the comp wont start up for a long time afterwards. Works eventually, but more often than not, it will only show 512mb of RAM. And then after similar events, it might go back to 1GB.
Currently its showing 512mb. Mystery is here though:
Keep in mind that this is with system start up saying 512mb and My Computer Properties confirming that...
Highly doubt its a problem with the sticks themselves cause like I said, sometimes I DO get 1GB RAM and performance is vastly improved as it should.
