IeSF 2012 World Championship - Sri Lanka qualifiers

The International e-Sports Federation (IeSF) is the international governing body for e-Sports world wide. The IeSF 2012 World Championship, organized by the International e-Sports Federation, will be held from the 2nd to 6th October 2012 in South Korea. Sri Lanka, as a nation that is heavily promoting e-Sports in the country, has been recognized and invited to take part in the Championship. The IeSF 2011 World Championship was held from the 6th to the 10th October 2011 in South Korea, at which Kushan 'Flashbullet' Senanayake represented Sri Lanka in the FIFA ONLINE tournament. IeSF 2012 World Championship - Sri Lanka qualifiers for Tekken 6 was held alongside Kings of Lan on 31st August at Venus Café Mount Lavania. With no established champion in Sri Lanka it was uncertain who will be walking away with a fully sponsored trip to South Korea to take part in the IeSF World Championship 2012.

PnX|LeoN won the Tekken 6 qualifier after a tense final against [FalsuS]xstate.

Gamer.LK spoke to Abith 'LeoN' Latiff of PnX Gaming on his thoughts about his achievement.

GLK: Congratulations on your achievement. How do you feel about representing Srilanka at IeSF?
Leon: Representing your country and proudly carrying the national flag in milestone events is a childhood dream of any individual and it is no different to me. It was an absolute honor and privilege to be given the gift of opportunity to perform for your country and make her proud. Despite debuting on Tekken 6, I was determined to make my overall experience in occasions of this magnitude count big time when the pressure and the intensity set in.

GLK: People who helped you to achieve your goal?
Leon: First and foremost, I’m thankful to god to have blessed with wonderful parents who have been caring, understanding and supportive despite the fact that this is essentially gaming. Secondly, my clan members have been a source of enormous encouragement providing me with continuous support for which I’m eternally grateful. Thirdly, the organizers namely Raveen and the GLK team deserve warm thanks since they strived really hard to make the event as highly quality driven and satisfactory as possible. Also, several people cheered me during the tournament and that motivated me to succeed. They are all part of my success story which has added extra gloss to an achievement which I feel extremely proud about.

GLK:  Pros and Cons about the event?
Leon: The major pro factor which I witnessed was the organization and treatment of the e-athletes which was a highly adequate reflection of the perception towards this concept.
The only con factor I can state is the fact that competition wise, it was not very tough since I was not challenged to a level where I felt insecure about my chances of clinching the gold. I’m confident that this will improve with the soaring popularity for cyber gaming.

GLK: Your expectations at Korea?

Leon: I’m extremely looking forward to this event and Korea represents another key landmark in my e-gaming career to date. I’m aspiring to give my very best and emerge triumphant. A stumbling block for my endeavors however is the fact that I will face the rigors of Tekken Tag which is the version in which I will pit my skills against the very best of the rest despite the fact that I have continued to excel in Tekken Yet I hope to perform in this particular event to my optimum level of my skills and bring glory to my motherland.

GLK: Other facts you want to share?
Leon: I would like to share my observations during my tenure as a gaming fanatic. People appear to be a bit hesitant to accept e-gaming as a stepping stone for instrumental success in life. This is mainly due to the fact that we perceive attainment to be hard work derived by serious tasks, although to the outside this appears to be fun, there is key attributes such as improved concentration, intelligence and precision which are heavily involved which sharpens and develops life as a whole. I hope that the local population embraces gaming as an integral part of life over the long run and I hope that I will be able to inspire potentials willing to embark on gaming as a profession in some capacity. I’m strictly focused on performing extremely well in Korea and on emerging as the cynosure of all eyes in the SLCG tournament due to be held in the penultimate month of the year.

“Gamer.LK congratulates LeoN, who will be taking part in the IeSF 2012 World Championship in South Korea.”

News / Kings of LAN: August '12
« on: September 30, 2012, 02:10:47 am »
Kings of LAN: Aug 2012 commenced on 31st of August 2012 at Venus Café Mount Lavinia featuring Counter Strike 1.6.  This was one of the last CS 1.6 Kings of LAN tournaments to be held before SLCG 2012, where Counter Strike 1.6 will be slowly phased out and switched to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. This was also the first tournament to kick start the Sri Lanka gaming rankings for the year. At a time when CS 1.6 is being transitioned to CS: GO all over the world, CS 1.6 players geared up to battle it out to be named the Kings of LAN.

PnX|Reservior Dogs were eventually crowned Kings of LAN after a thrilling grand finale beating xZtint tm. Both teams held their grounds pretty much against their opponents resulting in several over times(OT’s).

Gamer.LK spoke to a few participants to learn their thoughts about the event.

“It was a great tournament to prove our skills at LAN and to play the game competitively. Very well organised counter strike tournament by GLK.”
-   Gobi Che Ranjan ( Player - xZtint tm )

“It was said to be one of the last CS 1.6 tournaments, and my first one to be honest. Organisers did a great job with timing and stuff. It was a wonderful tournament. Organising the event was great, except some of the pc's had some flaws with configs and stuff. I would say good job guys. Keep up the goodies.”
-   Shoaib Alavi ( Player – asdfghjkl )

“Kings of LAN 2012 August was the last major CS tournament before SLCG 12. This time we saw a fewer teams participating. Even though a lot of players are playing it online and continue to play on servers very few turn up on LAN to play it competitively. At a time when CS 1.6 is being transitioned to CS:GO all over the world it would have been better to see more CS 1.6 players. Hope to see a large crowd later at SLCG 12. Also my thanks to Ishan, Warzchief, Warrior and Scooby for their support”
-   Organizer

“Gamer.LK congratulates PnX|Reservior Dogs on their outstanding victory. Stay Tuned for Kings of LAN COD4 -December ‘12.”
