Consoles / Can I JAIL BREAK my PS3?
« on: October 06, 2012, 02:24:57 pm »
Hi all,

This is a question most of you ask me via calls and sms today I'm trying to explain to you all how you can check it your selves. and if you read bellow you will know how to select a trouble free PS3 when you make a new purchase.
As we all know PS3 fats and slims come on many models you can check your model number on your PS3 as shown on picture 1

Now for the best part. Guys remember cell be means the processor and RSX means the GPU of your PS3.
Low power means less heat generated and less nanometer means the same.

On PS3 units you get a chip called NAND or NOR depending on the unit. This is similar to the CMOS chip in your PC motherboard which carries the initial system software capable of running the internal synchronization steps of the motherboard this is the same with a PS3. Nand comes as 256MB for PS3 and Nor is usually 16MB.

The difference between the PS3 is that it stores firmware in hard drive as well as Nand or NOR chip. This is the reason why you can't downgrade a PS3 even if you format the hard disk itself still if you try to go to a earlier version it bricks (Bricking means you get black screen once the PS3 is switched on and you don't get XMB screen just black screen that's it).in other words this is called a hard brick. This happens because the Nand or Nor chip keeps track of last firmware version installed if you try to install a bellow version it will reject it by burning itself off resulting in a brick.
Now we know for downgrading can only be done with the help of e3 flasher and some more gadgets this is required to fool your Nand or Nor to think that the installed version of firmware is less than what we are gonna install. It's a painstaking process but if you do it right you can downgrade your PS3 without any problems. Most people ask me you need a e3 only to downgrade the answer is no you need a E3, downgrade dongle or so call jig, Nand reading software, micro SD card with a usb reader (at least 2GB),USB Data traveler and also you will need 2 dongles (you need to take the board out and solder these to the relevant usb ports from inside ) if you need to install your e3 not in the hard disk bay (New method)

Price for all this and downgrading as well we do it at Rs 28,000/= as long as you have a compatible console.Your console has a firmware minimum version it can support and if it's not 3.55 supportable we can't help you .Most CECH 300X doesn't support 3.55 so the last firmware its supports is 3.70 or 3.72 be careful when you purchase first check with the chart if you plan to jailbreak your PS3.

One little thing to add most people think 160GB and 320GB are the same the only difference is the hard drive well guess what if you think that you are wrong. 160GB build quality is way less than the 320GB. If you dismantle 2 and see you will understand for instance 320 always has higher blade count in the fan than 160GB and the heat Zink material on 160GB has less aluminum than a 320GB and 160 has a smaller heatzink while the 320 has 1.5 times the heatzink as a 160GB

.
So all I ask of you is to choose wisely.
We have started the downgrade Process at the moment we have 23 people on line so we don't take any more for the next week for downgrading.

Thanks,
Regards,
Chamal.

Consoles / XBOX ERROR CODES (1ST AND 2ND BOTH AND WHAT TO DO WITH IT)
« on: July 04, 2012, 01:57:22 pm »
Hi all,

Thought of sharing this coz this will come in handy when your x-box will have issues and most repair techs can’t fool you if you know what’s wrong with your box in the first place.

E01: possibly a power supply problem

E02: possibly a Network Interface problem (might be fixed by loosening the x-clamps)

E03: possibly Power problem could be the PSU could be the GPU/CPU, somehow the console isn't getting clean power from the power supply.

E04: Unconfirmed: There is a problem with the Southbridge Chip usually dealing with how it connects to the mainboard (cold solder joint/bridged solder joints)

E05: CPU over heating - If you are receiving this error after disassembling your console make sure to all 8 of the heatsinc screws are tightened securely to the board/heatsink holes.

E06: GPU over heating -ensure your x-clamps are installed properly.

E07: RAM over heating

E08: Unconfirmed: General I/O Malfunction, could be caused by an error with any of the I/O devies such as A/V port, USB, Hard drive, DVD drive, etc. over torquing of the AV or heatsync bolts can cause this error.

E09: Unconfirmed: This can be caused by two completely different things either:
A. DVD Drive Time out - Can be caused by problems with a firmware flash. This is also speculated to sometime be caused by a problem with the southbridge chipset on the motherboard based on how it connects to the DVD drive.
B. GPU error, generally caused by a poor connection to the mainboard (cold solder joints/bridged solder joints) See error E18 for more information

E10: Unconfirmed: CPU error, generally caused by a poor connection to the mainboard (cold solder joints/bridged solder joints). This can also be triggered by an error with the TSOP.

E11: (not yet known)

E12: Possibly a problem with temperature control

E13: Unknown: could be caused by a short between the heatzink and surrounding capacitors

E14: (not yet known)

E15: (not yet known)

E16: Unknown: Likely a cold solder join in GPU or Ram chips (see error E18)

E17: (not yet known)

E18: Error in the "Digital Backbone" (CPU/GPU/RAM), this is usually caused by a cold solder joint between the GPU and the main board.
There are two theories to fixing this one deals with the "X" clamps that hold down the chips. The other involves re-Heating the chips. DO NOT attempt either of these if your console is still under warranty. If your console is still under warranty return it to the store where it was purchased or call MS to have it replaced.

E19: Unknown: GPU Error this is usually caused by bridged solder points where the GPU connects to the main board. see error E18 for more detailed information

E20: likely a Ram error, this can be caused by a cold or bridged solder joint on one of the Ram chips.
...
E32: (not yet known)

E33: (not yet known)

E34: (not yet known)

E35: overheating GPU possibly due to lack of thermal compound.
...
E45: Unknown (possibly dashboard update related)

E52: (not yet known)

E64: DVD Drive Error - Dvd drive timed out during reset :Wrong firmware, dvd is without f/w chip, etc. This can also be caused by the tray not being fully closed on boot. also it could mean that the Kernel can't be launched/signature in NAND Flash chip is broken It could be possible after bad update. This might also be caused by a bad SATA cable.

E65: DVD Drive Error - Dvd drive is not DMA configured: Wrong firmware, dvd is without f/w chip, etc. This can also be caused by the tray not being fully closed on boot.

E66: DVD Drive Error - Dvd drive pairing failure: DVD model, or version does not match that of the version expected by the dashboard. OR the firmware version on the drive is older then the firmware version expected by the dashboard. Make sure the DVD drive is of the same version originally included with the console and that it is using either the original firmware included with the console or newer. if drive can eject, read, and write under windows but errors on console, replacing original firmware should fix issue.

E67: Hard Drive Error - Hard drive timed out during reset: It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it.

E68: Hard Drive Error - Hard drive not DMA configured: It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it. Also this can be caused by a problem with the fans that make them draw too much power, it can also be caused if you have unnecessary accessories attached to the console like an external fan unit. Attempt to remove unnecessary accessories first, and then necessary components such as the hard drive and USB devices. If you have any case mods you may want to investigate those as well.

E69: Hard Drive Error - Reading the HD Security sector failed: It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it

E70: Hard Drive Error - Hard drive not found

E71: Dashboard Error - Error within Xam.xex: possibly a dashboard update error, Check below in the "Console Reset Codes" for instructions. If that does not work there is no other solution and the console must be sent back to MS for repair.

E72: Dashboard Error - Error within Xam.xex: Like a problem with the NAND flash

E73: I/O Hardware Error - Couldn't calibrate HSIO Bus from edram: this error is likely caused by a problem with the Ethernet port or supporting control devices

E74: I/O Hardware Error - HSIO related, could be crc error, or many things: There is high chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip near the AV cable connection) it can also be caused by a faulty AV cable so check that first.Failing that this error In some cases it is a problem with the GPU and may be repairable by doing the x-clamp replacement (see error 0102)

E75: Ethernet Error - Couldn't read Ethernet phy vendor: Strange but sometimes caused by the DVD drive not being connected properly.

E76: Ethernet Error - Couldn't complete Ethernet reset: This error is usually cased by the Ethernet port's controller chip, a dead chip may not cause the error but removing the Ethernet controller chip does, it may also be caused by other Ethernet related problems.

E77: Ethernet Error - phy request is already processing/reading reg failed/Failed to write reg: This error is sometimes caused by power problems with the RAM chips. It might be cause by a short between the heat sink and resistors or by more serious problems with the RAM. [more info]

E78: Dashboard Error - AsicId check failed

E79: Dashboard Error - Couldn't start xam.xex: probably a file system corruption, it could also be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it.

E80: Dashboard Error - Wrong LDV version in NAND Flash: This is in new dashboard. You have the update but haven't R3T6 resistor. You can:
-Downgrade to old dashboard, solder back the resistor and then update your xbox
-If you have CPU Key, get current NAND Flash image and fix LDV (just add 1 up to latest kernel). (See error 1100)

SECONDARY ERROR CODES
The specific type of hardware failure can be determined by a "hidden" error code
•Turn the xbox 360 on, and wait till the 3 red lights are flashing.
•Press and hold the sync up button (the small white one), while holding that button press the eject button.
•The LEDs will now blink the first number in the code (as described below).
•Release the eject button and press it again.
•The LEDs will now blink the second number of the code.
•Release the eject button and press it again.
•The LEDs will now blink the third number of the code.
•Release the eject button and press it again.
•The LEDs will now blink the forth number of the code.
•Release the eject button and press it again.
•The LEDs will go back to the 3 red flashing lights.
You should be able to determine the difference between the 3 flashing lights and the error code lights by the rate in which they flash.

Here is how you interpret the LEDs to get the code number:•All four lights flashing - 0
•One light flashing - 1
•Two Lights flashing - 2
•Three lights flashing - 3

This post is mainly for all the people who have an X-box FAT OR SLIM modded to play burn disks (LT3.0 or LT 2.0). If you have one with you I strongly recommend you listen or rather read this topic further coz otherwise you will be sorry within 1-2 months time.

Microsoft is planning to release a new Dashboard version (2.0.15*****) which will affect the LT 3.0 and LT2.0 pirated units so I strongly recommend all members/customers etc not to update their dashboard after the version 2.0.14719.0 so far as we all know 2.0.14699.0 is so far the best dash for LT 3.0 but there are some games like Max Payne 3 in some cases which will require the dash 2.0.14719.0 (Released on February 23, 2012) if you really want to update to the 2.0.14719.0 dash it's OK but it's the end of the line coz if you update your x-box to (2.0.15*****) the LT 3.0 mod will be detected and patched so once it's done you can't do anything to roll back so all be careful when updating the dashboard of your x-box.

New games such as the Amazing Spider Man will require you to update the dash if you want to play so be careful at the moment there is no walkthrough but as you may all know by the time the game Amazing Spiderman will be released   there will be spoofed iso’s on the internet so you don't have to update the dash just to play the game. But my concern is the guys who play on-line with originals beware if you update this dashboard from a new game (original) there will be no more pirated burn disk play for you guys from the same console.

Hope this helps.
Chamal.

Dear All Members,

If you want to play Max Payne 3 in your Xbox I suggest you play it for 1 hour and give it a rest of 30 minutes. Coz it has been reported that Max Payne 3 Kills Xbox consoles giving it Red Ring of Death or so called RROD.
Microsoft knew the game (Original) almost takes 98-100% use of the XBOX as most of you know pirated patched games will require more processor and GPU usage to begin with. As per Microsoft s wishes and expectations Pirates made pirate copies of the original making it to use resources   at a level of 110% which is not healthy for the X-Box  console as a result anything manufactured before August 2010 has a Higher risk of getting RROD by playing max pane. It was brought to my attention that even new x-box 360 slim new one is a good candidate if your fan is not modded to cool it properly. Old X-box however  (manufactured before August 2010) are a definite target whether they are modded or not  so guys all I ask from you is to know this info and keep it in mind coz it's better to be careful than be sorry.

Hope this helps.

Communal Assistance / What is Damro INNOVEX TV is Made of ????????
« on: May 07, 2012, 09:02:16 am »
Hi,

Well I recently bought a Full HD innovex 32 Inch TV from Damro. My gut told me not to go for it but the price of just Rs 42750/= plus 2 years on-site Warranty (Yes they come to your home to repair it) sold me the deal. But yesterday I ran into a new problem as my 3 year old son has spilled cake all over the place I found Red ants coming and going out of the TV. Bummer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  >:(

Didn't wanna watch it after words thinking the driver board will short out because of the ants….

Its under warranty so if I dismantle it, it will avoid the warranty … then I remembered a old school thick just to safely remove the warranty sticker without damaging it (you can always paste it back) OK guys I will share this with you it's not magic it's just plain old steam. You boil a kettle of water and let the steam soak the sticker and once it's done you can remove any warranty sticker without peeling. (For educational Purposes only)

so as I did that I found out the Innovex TVs Display Panel  is Branded as Skyworth which is a good thing because Skyworth panels won't give you dead pixels on the long run  or the LED’s wont dim after some time but I was afraid about the Skyworth power Driver Card or so call PSU  (these give you trouble all the time) but lucky for me it was from a Samsung  as well as the Driver Card is also Samsung (I took pics for you guys to see) . Any way i got rid of the ant problem as i type this post I'm in the process of reassembling the TV. (Yes I put some bug kill powder inside as well)

Conclusion:
the TV is a fruit salad, but the thing is this salad doesn't contain trouble parts so it's good. Somehow Damro got to assemble this salad of parts into a TV. They know it's going to work a long time so that's why they give 2 Years warranty on-site. Let's face it. For that price I was really surprised to receive such a deal. But I thought of sharing this with you all because of most ppl fear purchasing [email protected] Cheap Price and thinking that  YOU END UP WITH A BAD PRODUCT. (In reality 99% of the time this is the truth). But with Innovex it's a different story so far (It's the Launch of the product maybe Damro will have a different sandwich mix later once the product gets popular). Just thought of shearing coz this will help people clear things up. I'm glad that I went for this now. I got this TV to check consoles when I work on them so far so good.

By the way Power board and Driver Board Quality code Was Class 1 and the panel Quality code was Class 2.

I was expecting to find a unbranded boards with Class 8 to 10 panel Quality somewhere around 5. But I was wrong Damro is a good company who likes to keep their Brand name reputed. Hope this will help someone to purchase good quality TV for a reduced price tag. (Y)

Yes guys it can play AVI,MP4,MKV,MPGE 2,RM,DAT,VOB, all most every video format you can think of and it has 2 USB,2HDMI,2AV in and one AV out etc..
It even supports USB hard disks I have a 500 GB portable HDD which doesn't work on my other Samsung TV.

Hope that helps!!!!!!
Chamal.

Hi All,   ;D

A GLK user known as CSM101 gave me a motherboard day before yesterday the problem was he accidentally slipped the screw driver while removing a tight mounting screw on his motherboard. The problem was 14 lines or so called pads were cut on the motherboard making it useless.due to this reason the pad gaps were too far to solder so this is how I fixed it.  Keep in mind these lines on the motherboard are 5 times smaller than a Single hair so this is the best that I could do. It was an extreme motherboard so the lines were 1/3  size if a regular motherboard. See pics for Details. By the way CSM101 YOUR BOARD IS FIXED SO YOU CAN COLLECT IT. I tried calling your mobile to inform but kept getting diverted. Wanted to give you a heads-up on the situation that's the reason behind this post. this thing took almost 5 hours of my time to solder (coz the dam line are so tiny) & had to find a coil thin wire to suit the job. any how i just wanted you all to know in case something like this happens I'm there to help. ;D

so sorry about the pic quality coz i used my phone to take the pics (Nokia n95 8GB)

Thanks,
Regards,
Chamal.
