PS4 / Does the PSN account region have any effect on the latency/lag?
« on: February 13, 2017, 07:16:21 pm »
My PSN account is a US one (been having it since the time of my PS3). I play Overwatch a lot and I've noticed a high latency icon (lighting bolt icon on the upper left half of the screen) constantly lighting up. I was wondering whether the using an Asian region account would help?

My line of thought was that if the server I'm connecting to is located in the same region as my account, then maybe having an Asian account would reduce the lag.

Penny for your thoughts?

Communal Assistance / Lankabell 4G or WiMAX (fixed line)?
« on: January 01, 2015, 04:22:48 pm »
Hey guys, first of all, happy new year!

Now on to my query... I've been considering getting a Lankabell internet connection since I'm not happy with SLT. I'm leaning towards WiMAX since it's apparently unlimited albeit at a slower speed.

I was wondering whether anyone who uses (or has used) Lankabell's 4G or WiMAX connection could share their experiences with me. I'm also curious about the latency on these connections.

Classifieds / [Selling] Yakuza 3 (US)
« on: November 17, 2011, 06:59:10 pm »
I'm selling the game Yakuza 3 (for PS3 of course) for 2500/-

It's a semi-open world game with a good plot and plenty of action (e.g. -  you can beat up thugs with a bicycle and then use the broken parts of the bicycle to beat up more people). That said, violence aside it's a fun game to play and will keep you occupied for a long time.

For more info on the game check out Gamespot or IGN

If anyone is interested please drop me a PM

Communal Assistance / Tutorial on modding a XBOX 360?
« on: August 14, 2011, 11:56:44 am »
Recently (well maybe about 2months back or so) the firmware on my cousin's XBOX 360 Ultimate got updated. Since then he hasn't been able to play the pirated games he has. I was wondering whether there is a tutorial of any kind that could help me "mod" it again. I've read on the internet how all that needs to be done is for a custom firmware to be installed but so far I've been unable to find such a custom firmware.

Any help would be appreciated.

Consoles / Updating a modded XBOX 360
« on: May 06, 2010, 11:03:40 pm »
Hey guys i'm posting this on behalf of my cousin. He bought a modded XBOX 360 elite a few days back. However when he tried to play Battlefield Bad Company 2 it said he needs to update the console. This was also the case for another game (i think it was Street Fighter 4). Both these game weren't genuine btw.

My question is would there be any consequences if he chooses to update the console?

Thanks in advance guys.

Consoles / Sony's response to Project Natal?

Sony sent out some details on the PlayStation Motion Controller to its developers, according to Kotaku, revealing some information about the device that we didn't know. We regret to inform you, however, that said information does not include a) the real name of the thing, or b) the real shape.

The device will include rumble motors for force feedback, and four of the wands can be tracked simultaneously by the PlayStation Eye camera. Motion-controlled games will also be able to take advantage of face tracking and head tracking. Sony is also investigating the possibility of combining wand and PS3 controller use, with the example of the wand as a sword and the DualShock 3 as a shield.

Wand-controlled games can also use the PlayStation Eye's microphone for voice recognition and voice control. However, all this wizardry comes at a cost: Sony told developers that the "motion-tracking library has some SPU overhead and has an impact on memory as well, although these will be minimized."

Consoles / Zeebo: new supercheap game console
« on: March 24, 2009, 11:44:08 pm »

Early Monday morning, Zeebo CEO John Rizzo and Qualcomm games and services senior director Mike Yuen today announced the launch of the Zeebo console, intended for emerging markets worldwide, specifically BRIC – Brazil, Russia, India, and China, which represents 800 million people.  “In 2000 Bill Gates introduced the original Microsoft Xbox at GDC,” said Mike Yuen. “We’re honored here to release what we believe will be the fourth big console.” Zeebo is based on Qualcomm mobile technology, from the graphics chipset to the 3G wireless network, and has positioned itself as a piracy-free alternative to the larger, more expensive consoles.  In Brazil, for instance, where the console is launching first, a PS3 costs the equivalent of US$1,100 new, and the Wii costs US$1,000, because neither console has officially launched there — the only alternative for those consoles is piracy.

The Zeebo is launching at the equivalent of $199 USD, with games costing in the range of $5 to $15. Games are download-only across a 3G wireless network, which can also be used as a connectivity point for laptops in those homes without internet. Yuen compared the video game market to the Matterhorn, in that many have died trying to climb it. “Lots of companies have tried to conquer the big three, and died doing it. So, within Qualcomm we’ve been thinking about how we can do this differently, and with cellular technology.” Qualcomm and Zeebo did a number of market tests and research in various regions, and found that most middle class families had not been exposed to much marketing about games, but had used cell phones to download ringtones or simple games.

Hey guys found this download tool called JDownloader. It is very useful as you could download files off over 100 file sharing hosts as both a premium and/or free user of that particular host.

So why do I say it's easy?
  • Cross platform support (Windows, Linux, Mac, etc)
  • As mentioned it supports over 100 hosts
  • As mentioned it supports downloading as a free and/or premium user
  • You could create a queue of the links and it will wait the necessary wait time and start the download on its own
  • As it supports various hosts you could mix links from different host in the case of mirror links (avoids restarting the router/modem and the wait time between downloads)
  • Automatic unzipping
  • Automatic restarting of router (I haven't tested this out yet)
  • And more........  8)

Oh and did I mention its FREE??  :D
