Communal Assistance / I need your opinion for my next build.

Hi Guys,

Okay, now that I have sort of settled down after relocating myself,  thought of getting your opinion on my next build.

Since many heads are always better than one please feel free to give your expert opinion. I must confess that I am on a fairly strict budget this time though I plan for a high end machine ultimately.
 
The  platform will be Intel Socket 1155 for 3rd Generation Core i7 with Intel Z77 chip-set motherboard.

I have 4 boards in mind 1. ASUS Sabertooth Z77  2. ASUS P8Z77-V PRO  3. ASUS P8Z77-V   4. ASRock Z77 Extreme6

ASUS P8Z77-V PRO and ASUS P8Z77-V has on board Wi Fi. Quite used to ASUS mobos but ready to try something new with outstanding results.

Well, what do you think?

Would appreciate if you justify your opinion so that I can decide.

Planning to use  Intel Core i7 3770K on it with 8 GB RAM initially.

NVIDIA SLI on AMD Chipset Motherboards Soon

NVIDIA SLI multi-GPU technology is going through a rough patch on the AMD platform, with very few NVIDIA nForce 900 series motherboards available/sold. With AMD looking to come back strong in the performance CPU market (which might cause high-end gaming PC users to switch platforms), it is wise on the part of NVIDIA to make SLI available to AMD platform users in some form. NVIDIA is making a cautious move: licensing SLI to motherboard vendors in the same protocol in which it licenses them to provide NVIDIA SLI support on Intel 5-series and 6-series chipset based motherboards.

This move is particularly wise because NVIDIA wouldn't need to invest on making a chipset (though it can) for AMD's upcoming "Bulldozer" CPUs, and still get licensing fees for NVIDIA SLI. That way, it wouldn't have to rely on the platform's overall market success. NVIDIA will offer SLI licenses to motherboards based on AMD's upcoming 9-series chipset, particularly to models that lack integrated Radeon graphics (that's AMD 990FX, and AMD 990X). It will offer 2-way SLI licenses to motherboards running AMD 990X, and 3-way/2-way licenses to boards based on AMD 990FX. It won't offer nForce 200 bridge chips. Further, only those motherboard manufacturers that are currently tied up with NVIDIA for SLI licenses on Intel platform, will be granted SLI licenses on AMD platform.



NVIDIA demands a fee of about $5 for each SLI-certified motherboard sold. Only licensed motherboards can run NVIDIA SLI. For licensed motherboards a special SLI-certification code is embedded into the motherboard BIOS. NVIDIA GeForce driver looks for this SBIOS code before offering SLI as a feature that can be enabled. AMD's next generation high-end desktop platform is on course for a June 2011 launch.

For so long, AMD enthusiasts have to resort to unofficial patches to make SLI work on their boards but not anymore. NVIDIA has finally agreed to make their SLI technology available for AMD 9-series chipsets boards supporting the Zambezi processors based on Bulldozer architecture. Only 990FX and 990X will be supported though so no luck for 7 and 8 series boards owners. AMD 990FX is able to support 2 PCIe x16 slots or 4 PCIe x8 slots so it can run 2-way (2 x16) or 3-way (3 x8) while AMD 990X is able to support only 2-way SLI (2 x8). There is no indication whether AMD 970 can support SLI at this point of time. The AMD 9-series launch is expected to be sometime in May so look out for it.

Classifieds / Going to Malaysia in mid Feb: Do you need any stuff?

Friends, I am planning to visit Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in mid-February for a week.
I could bring down some small and medium sized items like processors, VGAs, mouse’s, coolers, ssds and hard drives and maybe couple of motherboards.

This will be on first come first served basis since I have limited luggage space. PC component costs in Malaysia are much lower than the cost in Singapore. KL has many IT malls where very latest good quality brands are available.
 
If you need anything please post or PM me I’ll try to get you the price checked through my friend over there.
Full payment is required as I am not in a position to advance money to everyone who wants stuff.

This will be a good opportunity to get down some items not available in Sri Lanka and make use of the chance.
