Hardware / Peripherals / Its Finally Time For A New PC
« on: March 18, 2016, 01:13:18 am »
So my old PC is kinda failing bit by bit and its getting harder finding new parts in sl even ordering from the US is harder due to high prices and no stock.

Main usage is for gaming. This system is gonna be built to game on a Asus MG279Q 2560x1440 144Hz Freesync IPS.

So reasonable suggestions on what parts to get are welcome. Oh and I am going to be using a Raven 5 to house all the components.

Looking forward to your suggestions  (Y)

Galactic Warfare mod back on track
Written by jockyitch
Tuesday, 27 October 2009

I was fortunate tonight to get a chance to play the alpha version of the Blackmonkeys.de Star Wars mod, Galactic Warfare tonight. This talented German modding group is back on track with their total conversion mod of CoD4 and good news...it will be coming out really soon! So soon I can taste it.

Group spokesman Xiao, had told us after BASH 124 was recorded that there were some team defections on the weekend, as a result of IW's lack of support of the modding community. However, I can tell you that as of today, the team is hanging together and they will be going full speed to get this mod out to you.

Right now, they have a closed alpha going and it's open for only the developers.  How did I get in? Oh...didn't  I tell you I'm doing some of the Rebel Alliance voice-overs? You could say that my ability to intone "Banthapoodoo" got me front row tickets to the game.

Here's a screenshot of the opening menu screen. Wait until you hear the original score that plays in the backround. It's awesome.

I can tell you from practical experience, the mod plays great and is very immersive. When the Blackmonkeys finally get this game finished, you will not know this used to be CoD4.

The details these guys have thought of is incredible. Even the grenade throws have new animations. During my session, we played Free for All and S&D. Both were great fun and the map we were on, Tatooine, was beautiful. The mappers got this one bang on. I was totally sold that this was a hot, dry planet and all I kept hoping was that a Coke vending machine would spring up around the next corner.

Hitboxes have been tweaked smaller, so it's not as easy to get frags in this game.

When playing the Imperial side, I used the DLT-20A assault gun and the RT-97C sniper. Both were fun to use and had their own personality.

Here's the RT-97C:

Congratulations mapicted, Xiao and the rest of the modders/mappers/sound-engineers on the team. This mod is such a great example of what Infinity Ward should be extolling not re-prioritizing.

You can find out more about Galactic Warfare by listening to this podcast: BASH 116

Wow i cant wait o try this out  ;D

Hardware / Peripherals / Asus ROG MARS O.o
« on: July 13, 2009, 06:55:00 pm »
The words omfg came to my mind when i saw this. This i guess is the most powerful graphics card around...
The info below was taken from HEXUS.net

Quote

Remember the graphics monstrosity from ASUS that we mentioned at the tail end of last month? Known back then as the ASUS MARS 295 Limited Edition, the graphics oddity squeezes a pair of GeForce GTX 285 PCBs side-by-side in a single enclosure to create a graphics card that's effectively quicker than Usain Bolt.

It's immensely impressive, and benchmarks begin to quiver when two are put together for some quad-SLI action.

The theoretical performance can't be denied, but perhaps the best summary of the card came from HEXUS.community member Format who in no uncertain words said "Bloody hell. I wonder how much that will cost? £650 at launch?"

A logical guess, considering that a single 2GB GeForce GTX 285 can be had for around £330, but we're afraid you're a little off the mark. The card, now known simply as the ASUS ROG MARS and given the model number MARS/2DI/4GD3, is available to pre-order from SCAN.co.uk for a tidy sum of £1,030.98.

We're talking a whole lot of money, but then again, this is NVIDIA's fastest single-GPU, doubled, and connected invisibly via internal SLI. ASUS is said to be producing only 1000 of them, and they'll each provide the following:

    * Two 55nm GPUs clocked at 648MHz each
    * A total of 480 stream processors, clocked at 1,476MHz
    * 4,096MB of GDDR3 memory, clocked at an effective 2,484MHz and accessed via dual 512-bit interfaces
    * 2,125 peak GFLOPS
    * A peak fillrate of 41.47 Gpixel/s
    * Bragging rights until the next big thing comes along

Any takers?

Price is awesome :P
