Communal Assistance / PSU upgrade - Seasonic g550 to Corsair RM750x
« on: July 28, 2020, 09:59:08 pm »
As topic says - do I need and worth the upgrade? My best upgrade on future would be a ryzen 3700x + x570 or 10700 + z490, and a GTX 1080 or RTX 2070s

I currently have a Seasonic G550 which works quite well with my current setup (6600k OC 4.2Ghz+ z170, gtx 1070)

Communal Assistance / SLT Fibre GPON Firmware Flash
« on: October 17, 2019, 11:27:32 pm »
I have recently got Fttx and the SLT was generous enough to offer it to me free of charge. It was good. The speed was fine and all good.

But all so good comes with a con - The GPON / Router is pre configured with configured and hidden QoS. The router limits specific traffic such as Ftp download, torrent etc. It is obvious because on GPON web guideline it shows qos tab but this one it is not there on network tools. ftp download to 10 Mbps, UDP to 35Mbps vice versa. Http web traffic on port 80 gets the full bandwidth - 92~ Mbps.

I did some background search and it seems the router/PON they provide is from huawei and model is HG8245h and they give us only a limited access user not the root. And apparently the minute you connect the fiber cable, it establishes connection download settings and boom the user is gone.

Im trying to do some workaround where I can get through the router security and gain root and disable damn qos which limits my precious bandwidth!

has anyone tried this?> any comments  or details are greatly appreciated!

Hardware / Peripherals / Time to move to Ryzen?
« on: July 20, 2019, 01:38:15 pm »
I was an intel fan from the beginning -  beceause AMD always had something behind. On Athlon age its the heat, after the performance and critically low single core performance.

Since now the multi threading is a thing and more and more apps benefit from more cores and threads, with the Ryzen 3000 series being head to head with intel, (+ pcie 4.0 on x570s) is it the time to drop intel and move to amd? my next target upgrade was to go to 9600k with a z390 but, now having second thoughts on 3600x with a x570,

open for discussion  :)

Hardware / Peripherals / Skylake Build help!
« on: March 25, 2016, 11:57:18 pm »
I need a help. I planned a rig specs and Zero - always helpful - mentioned that its a mismatch and suggested some builds. despite the fact that their builds are very good, but I personally like to stick to a exotic mobo ( ;D ) for durability stability compatibility and to be future-proof. So I still decided to stick to a z170 mobo, around 30k price range, which are-

Gigabyte Z170MX-Gaming 5
Asus Z170 Pro Gamer

and for cpu, i decided i5 6500, with a liquid cooler but they mentioned its a mismatch, since its a z170 and a liquid cooler, so go for a k proc, so..

i5 6600k
i7 6700k
i5 6500

cooler Theres two options, around 10k -

Raidmax Cobra 120mm Hydro cooler
Coolermaster seidon v2

and for RAM, 16GB dual channel[8GB x2] below options, which is around 20-25k

G.Skill Trident Z 3200Mhz DDR4 8GBx2
Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000Mhz DDR4 16GBx1(single channel)
Corsair Vengeance LPX 2666Mhz DDR4 8GBx2

And a raidmax vortex v5 casing.

Please suggest me a good combination from above, which you might have built, or any other component which you would use for the build. I'd like to stick to the mentioned mobos though, i feel those are future proof, compatible with lot of expansion options - like m.2, usb 3.1 type c, sata express etc, also supports higher ram speeds up to 3600

Budget is around 90k

will be fixing a gtx 970 when it become affordable, somewhere after pascal comes  (Y)

PS: would i be able to go for an i7 6700k if i increase my budget to 98k~?
