the best FF game i have played. though i have to confess previously i have played only one ( 8 i think or the game where you play lightning in majority of the time and its not lightning returns btw).

the game has a very good story. i did not play the side quests and hunting stuff , used a trainer to get level 120 and other important stuff so that every battle is easy specially when you have that regalia stuff.
in terms of performance over 99% of the time i was able to stay above 35 FPS @ 4k with maxed out settings.  sound are good and lot of beautiful places to go as well. for us the PC gamers this is very good treat in terms of FF games IMO. so if you are a fan of FF or like to play a FF game for the first time i say get this one. if you have monitor that support HDR then that is the best way to play this game for eye candy. 

the bad thing about this game is that there is no real replay value. it do support game + but its the same again in terms of what you have to do.

overall i say this is a good game to play and specially if you are a RPG fan this is a must.

HI All

i though of sharing my HDR gaming experience with you so that you will know what you are getting in to.  most importantly as of now (21/02/2020) if you are going to get a monitor that support HDR  my suggestion is to wait a bit more. the reason is HDMI 2.1 is on the way where it support g-sync, 4K @ 120 Hz. but since this is not yet implemented in PC monitors officially waiting for that to happen is a good idea while the prices keeps dropping as well.

now for those who like me already have a monitor that support g-sync as well as HDR, based on the game we need to sacrifice either HDR or g-sync. so in my personal experience sacrificing g-sync is ok for better color as well as shadow experience within the game.

currently for most of the games that support HDR, you need a HDMI 2.0 cable if you are planning to play it at 4K @ 60 hz. i have learned this the hard way for games like BF1, HITMAN (2016) and HITMAN 2, Farcry 5 and Mass effect Andromeda since i had to get a HDMI 2.0 cable. none of the games that i have mentioned did not allowed the HDMI to be turned on while i was in DP (display port 1.4 cable )connection.  the reason why is this is IMO consoles and the TV market support HDMI over DP standard. in fact all the best HDR supported TV's do not have a DP connection. so what this means for you? depend on the game you need to change the cable  if you are playing games on PC with a HDR supported monitor  to get HDR! 

so far there are few games that supported HDR over DP connection. and as of now they are for me is Gears 5 and Shadow of the tomb raider. this is the best scenario as i have HDR and g-sync at the same time    i have some other games that i'm yet to play like COD WWII, Darksiders 3 and Metro Exodus. i will update this thread as and when i play those so that you will know what cable is needed. the sad thing is HDR is the same for DP and HDMI yet games are implemented with HDMI in mind. i hope this trend will go away as times goes by so that the PC gamers like me don't have to change the cables 

and that is exactly why i'm letting you know as i started this , wait until HDMI 2.1 is in effect for PC monitors and then get a monitor so that you  don't have the change the cables nor sacrifice g-sync.

i just downloaded this game and tried to enable HDR. did not worked. so below is the workaround that i performed in order to get HDR. (please note your system must have proper H/W in order to get it right)
[1] make sure windows 10 HDR is enabled as this game is OS HDR depended.
[2] enable HDR in the game options.
[3] ALT+TAB out of the game.
[4] ALT +TAB back in to the game and observe the resume option. if the red background color is more vibrant(more reddish and not washed out looking) then the workaround worked for you.

i'm playing at 2K resolution in a 4k monitor(in 4K the FPS goes below 30) with all the VGA options set to max. it seems the DLSS is the better AA option here in terms of AA as well as performance.
ray tracing and HDR is the way to go and Lara... damn, this the best Lara i have seen .

First Person Shooters / Gears of war 4 PC [GOW4]

Hi All

this is just my experience regarding GOW 4 on PC.
i got the ms store key so run in to downloading trouble. i fixed it by applying LCU (07/2019) and LSSU (07/2019) for the os. then reset the ms store via GUI and from command line. restarted the OS and then downloaded the latest ms store version. after that the download got completed and the game got installed. so the total size was near 140GB. version is 14.4.0.0

the game is running on unreal engine 4. i was able to play the game at 4k DSR resolution with all setting set to the max levels. the average FPS was about 45. compared with crysis 3 graphics this one sits below. story is also shallow and the game ends sooner than you think it going to end.

so my advise is do not get any any big size games from MS store. also like i did if you want this game get it when its go below 10$ mark. not worth above it.
hopefully MS fix this download issues before Halo franchise goes alive on MS store.

Action/Adventure / Mass Effect Andromeda

just finished the game.
Audio , video and the story are good. IMO they could have done another trilogy but ...
game play wise it is challenging when you play it at highest difficulty setting on.
my current h/w config is not capable of playing the game in 4k resolution when all graphics settings are in Ultra mode. but is capable when they are at high mode.

the second installment of the game. if you liked the first one this is definitely a must to play. good graphics and sound as well as new game play elements. game is very challenging when you play it at shadow walker difficulty. below are some screen shots.

ok played the game.

audio i don't like cos either i don't now how to filter songs so that only they are played or the game dose not support it. 
Video is great and can even used to benchmark your system even in 2019. i played the game in maxed out video settings and with 4K DSR res to see how my rig performs and it was great as the FPS always stayed above 30 and dips below 30 to like 25 when there are lot of grass in the visible area. 

its also hilarious and funny so you wanted to play the game. also you can at least play the game two times cos all the major heists have 2 ways to do it.

i just downloaded this game. already Hitman 2 has been released and with it you can play all hitman 2016 missions if you have some stuff already in your account(don't remember the exact conditions)
the most intereting part is that this game support HDR. for me its disabled because its not supported in my screen. very few screens are out there atm that support HDR and they are expensive. most of them are 4k while 2k are even less. so i run the builtin benchmark will ultra settings where possible (HDR will not effect FPS in huge quantity anyways) in 4k DSR and got a healthy 43 min 57 avg and 94 high score. please note this is without 16gb of ram. i will wait until i get those 2 ram sticks before playing the game.

if anyone have a 2k HDR support monitor that you got from a SL vendor please post its details as i like to know whether or not i should consider getting one my self. (mostly depend on the price of course)

i have just completed this game. its graphically very beautiful and sounds are good too. unlike the previous installations this one focus on WW1 and instead of a single story in the SP campaign you have multiple stories where you are being exposed to different combat aspects like air fights, tank fights etc. (no naval fights). i have played the game in FHD and DSR 4k resolutions where in FHD my average FPS was like 150 in ultra DX12 settings while in 4k it was like 75 FPS. interesting thing was i played this with only 8 GB of ram while the recommended amount is 16GB. so my conclusion is that if you have a good CPU and a VGA you can get away with 8GB.

this game have some bugs when it comes to configurations. the menu screens dose not allow you to click upon confirmation dialogue boxes when you change resolutions within the game. my workaround was to change the values in the configuration file it self. apart from this annoying this the game is fine. but as always only get it when its up for sale like 10$ or less.

Hi All

i just resolved (hopefully) an error that i saw like below

Unloading the performance counter strings for service WmiApRpl (WmiApRpl) failed

the above was in the applications log because i took the time to look at the logs. this is because all of a sudden when ever i play a game (regardless of the resource requirements) the OS all of a sudden halt where it even don't response to CRTL+ATL+DEL. so i resolved it as below

i loaded the command prompt as administrator
run the below command that usually should do the work
C:\Windows\system32>lodctr /R

but got the below error
Error: Unable to rebuild performance counter setting from system backup store, error code is 2

so...
C:\Windows\system32>cd ..

C:\Windows>cd syswow64

C:\Windows\SysWOW64>lodctr /R

Info: Successfully rebuilt performance counter setting from system backup store
C:\Windows\SysWOW64>winmgmt.exe /RESYNCPERF

C:\Windows\SysWOW64>

after this you need to restart the system. im still doing tests for about 2 hours but the issue did not reappear. so i thought i should share with you guys as this might happen to anyone of you. 

my OS is win10 but i guess this should be ok for win7 and 8 as well.

if everything went smooth you should see the below entry in the applications logs once the counters were reloaded by the OS. it might happen immediately or it will happen a bit later.

"Performance counters for the WmiApRpl (WmiApRpl) service were loaded successfully. The Record Data in the data section contains the new index values assigned to this service."

International Scene / Request for SLCG orgernizers

Hi

i recently found out that in Asian games 2022, there will be e-sports where they will be recognized and medals will be awarded accordingly.  in fact as most of you know, this year there will be introduction/demo meet will be held in parallel with Asian games held in Indonesia. whats interesting is that out of the 5 games nominated 3 are individual events where the other 2 are team based events.

so what dose this got to do with SLCG 2018 and onward? obviously the tournaments must promote all potential games that have a high chance of in Asian games 2022. this can be determined in the up coming years but as of now i'm pretty sure LOL and SC2 will be there. SC2 was there in the first SLCG but after that did  not get listed. so my request is to add SC2 again and promote that game at least in SLCG. if done correctly we have exactly 4 years to groom potential talent pool and bring them up to meet the 2022 challenge in all the games. but as usual for the last two years i might get the mundane reply of " we are always looking forward to add more games in our future events"

to that all i can  say is that please do not let this chance slip away due to any number of reasons.

Communal Assistance / ebay frauds related to GTX 1070 and 1080 cards

Hi all

i have jst been a victim of a fraud scene in ebay where sellers list GTX 1070 and 1080 cards for extremely low cost. in my case ebay have notified me after about 1.5 hrs of the transaction. since i have payed via paypal and it was not claimed i was able to dispute and as a result i don't think the person can actually get the money.

the symptoms are

[1] card is extreamly low in price (like 150 USD )
[2] shipping will happen almost immediately after your transaction is done (not possible in actual life  i guess)

if you are not sure just check the price in a site like amazon and if there is a huge gap, do not buy it.
