Game Dev / Any GLSL shader programmer here?
« on: January 27, 2020, 06:39:51 pm »
Hi guys,

Looking for an experienced OpenGL GLSL programmer. The product is an iOS app, not really a gaming-oriented but heavy use of game dev nuts and bolts with image processing.
You can read more from
https://gamer.lk/forum/index.php?topic=39027.0

At the moment it's a personal project and I am the only developer. The product was released on 1st Jan and already hit ~1500 download count + positive feedbacks. Going to develop the Android version too, and this is the only place in which I may able to find the right person for GLSL developments.

If anyone interested pm me pls. The business model we can discuss.

No Game Zone / Photo editor for iOS - developed in SL
« on: January 25, 2020, 08:35:45 pm »
Hi guys,

After sometime  :), I believe this is the correct forum for this topic. If not, admins pls put this under the right umbrella.

Sometime back I have been active here, especially in game dev topics. Now do the same but little different. What I am doing now is make use of game dev nut and bolts with image processing. This is a quite new and very famous tech among image/video processing people, which enables the use of the power of graphics cards to run number crunching image processing algorithms.

With this tech recently I have developed a photo editing app(currently iOS only) with OpenGL ES/Shaders. It's free and all features unlocked.

If you have time pls have a look and help me to spread this among Srilankans.
This is a one-man work, so I believe you would consider that fact when you compare this with other photo editors  ;D

I like to join with you. But my experiences are limited to 2D for now. If this is not URGENT. I can join after my semester end exams. By beginning of MAY I think :)

Thank you.

National University of Singapore. (Both Lecturers and Students)

Pleased to hear that, next time please inform me. Probably you can offer me a free ticket  ;)

Not at all. I'd prefer industry people to PHDs any day. I daresay the lecturers are extremely qualified in their own fields, and I do not wish to demean them in any way. But there's a difference between making games and making GOOD games. Physics and VR could be useful only if there's an industry-related Game Design / Game Arts practitioner in there somewhere.

Check out www.digipen.edu, and you'll see why I'm being so harsh. We need those standards. There are hundreds of universities around the world whose gamdev students are employable because their academies are not known for industry experience.
Here I agree with you. Game development and making a virtual reality/physics simulation are two different things. What industry people want to do is making a complete game and sell it. But academic people focus more towards research and publications. For a example using a good game engine someone can develop a nice game. But this doesn't mean he know graphics, physics, ai etc... goes behind, he only mastering that specific tool.
So when selecting a course first he has to decide what he want to learn (writing a code and display something or implementation of theories)

What i want to know is - who are the people teaching Game Development? Are they professional developers? Are they related to the game industry? Do they have experience? Just because someone can animate a 3D model doens't mean he/she is qualified to teach gamedev - and charge for it.

I guess having 4 phds in virtual reality and physics in the lecture panel is enough for you.
