Haha, we at Herbal Energy are thrilled to be included on your list, but we won't be playing for a while due to some players being busy/abroad/etc.

Who are the additional teams? The Kandy winners?

Nope, match was played and IIRC Time To Throw won 2-0. Onca hasn't updated the post because while everyone else in SL has a holiday, he's working.

So are both these teams well established or what? (Sorry, I'm not familiar with the local dota 2 scene). And if you don't want the annoying pre-match phone call, you may PM me your steam IDs now.

Multiplayer / Re: GLK Team Ranking System
« on: October 02, 2013, 10:37:50 pm »
Ok, just to get an idea of what this looks like, I made an example spreadsheet of SLCG '12 (standard ELO calculations as in Rav's post and a K-value of 500, standard for SLCG). Link. Sorry for the shitty quality: I've never used google docs before.

Remember, these are NOT correct values since most of the teams were probably still in their provisional 5 game period. This is JUST AN EXAMPLE.

As you can see, since I had all teams starting out with 1600 points, teams that got knocked out early mostly have identical scores. In fact, the only difference in scores between teams that got knocked out in the same round is due to the round 1 byes. Of course this wont be the case in future tournaments since teams wont have the same starting score, but this should give you a basic idea of what the system looks like.

Disclaimer: I am NOT a member of the GLK staff and these scores are NOT official. I made this just for the heck of it and it's more than likely there are mistakes somewhere. If you happen to spot any, remember they are completely inconsequential because this spreadsheet is NOT official and is just something I made in my free time.

I think this is not necessary for the ranking system because probability is useless unless the best team wins A or B  this is not guessing its all about the skill of the team

Can you elaborate on that? This isn't about guessing which team will win. It's the "expected" score based on difference in ELO. It serves a LOT of purposes, for example it reduces the point gain/loss in one sided matches.

Edit: All data for thespreadsheet was taken from this.

Ha, haven't tried yet. So far I've been content with Dota 2 and some Dishonored/MW3 on the side. Not so much as a hiccup yet. And btw, the $1520 included a Logitech G400 and some other extras. Like I said, Xoticpc is really cheap.

wicked lap mate, how much did this config cost? thought xoticpc was a bit expensive, was hoping to get something through ibuypower or origin, but I believe xoticpc has the best customization available online

US$1520 (Including Logitech G400 mouse). Free shipping, 3% discount, 8GB of RAM free and other discounts. Xoticpc and powernotebooks were actually the cheapest options (did a lot of researching) and they have excellent service. Xoticpc also has amazing customization opions, but I wouldn't do anything to the amazing rubberized metal finish on ASUS G-series laptops.

If you want the best price, look at the sagers on xoticpc. This same config would have cost at least $250 less. I would've had the option of a GTX675/680 or a Radeon (GTX670 is NOT an upgrade over the 660 IMO due to the whole generation difference thing). I would have gone for a Sager but I decided the more reliable build quality was more important.

EDIT: Again, xoticpc is dirt cheap. By contrast, I found origin more expensive. Didn't really look much at ibuypower because they weren't recommended as much when I was looking around.

ASUS G55VW.
15.6" Matte 1920x1080.
Intel Core i7 3630QM.
Nvidia GTX 660M.
16GB RAM.
Crucial mSATA SSD 128GB.
500GB storage drive (7200RPM).
Windows 8.

Bought from xoticpc.com (they bumped up the RAM from 8GB and added the SSD). Definitely would recommend. And no, I didn't have it shipped here, it was brought down by a friend so I can't help anyone with that. But their service is excellent, so if you do want a laptop shipped, consider them.

Meh. YOu cant dodge esp probes when they take 8 secs to get there, which eliminates the possibility of ninja'ing stupid people. I also cant survive knowing I cant look away for 4 mins while my fleet is sitting on a planet. The huge amount of short fleetaes necessary will run a MASSIVE deut bill.

Haha yes, still breathing. The start screen does have a few advantages though. I can accidently hit the windows key while in game and immediately re-hit it to get back in without any performance hit (I ripped the win key off my old keyboard but cant do that now cause I'm on a laptop). It also reminds me to keep my desktop EXTREMELY tidy which was a big prob I had on my old pc.

I am NOT joining Uni 35. Ogame is very stressful and Uni35 will give me a heart attack in a week. If you decide to join any normal speed uni (or at the very MOST, a 2x speed uni) I might consider. But DAMN uni35. prOgame my ass.

The windows 8 start screen is one of the more annoying features of win8, but that doesn't mean we can't make the most of it, right? Has anyone done anything interesting with their start screens? Here's my attempt:

In case you're wondering, the program used to create icons is called OblyTile (google it) and some image manipulator to make icons (I use GIMP).

Right now my game collection is extremely small (new PC) but hopefully it'll look better once I get more games.
