Title: Battlefield 4

EA: there is going to be a Battlefield 4
(http://geek.pikimal.com/files/2011/11/battlefield-3-logo_thumb.jpg)
The first DLC for Battlefield 3 isn't out yet - but that hasn't stopped EA from confirming the next game in the series.

"There is going to be a Battlefield 4", EA has said.

Electronic Arts president Frank Gibeau confirmed the company's intention to release the shooter sequel during a keynote at the University of California. His comment was then Tweeted by attendees.

The news comes as no surprise - Battlefield 3 is the fastest-selling EA game ever and has shifted a whopping five million copies.

Afterwards, an EA spokesperson told IGN: "Frank was speaking broadly about the Battlefield brand - a brand that EA is deeply passionate about and a fan community that EA is committed to."

On the eve of Battlefield 3's launch, DICE told Eurogamer it was the Swedish studio's hope that it would one day get the opportunity to make Battlefield 4.

"This feels like day one now," executive producer Patrick Bach said. "It's exciting. The whole Frostbite 2 thing has opened up a big landscape ahead of us so we can do whatever we want."

But will Battlefield 4 launch for this generation of consoles, or the next?

What we do know is the PC version of Battlefield 3 offers us a glimpse what gamers can expect from the next-generation of consoles.

"If anyone would build a new console today, that would be the result," Bach said.

"At least. Probably more, because it's classic PC technology. We know everything about multi-threading now. We know everything about multi-graphics card solutions now. If someone built a console where the specs are that or more, we have the technology to do something. We could port the game to that console tomorrow."

DICE built Battlefield 3 using its new Frostbite 2 engine, designed to future proof the studio and work with the next Xbox and PlayStation.

Bach said the next-generation is a case of more horsepower - in particular multiple processors and graphics cards in a single unit.

"There's nothing we know about now that the new consoles would do differently, rather do more," Bach explained. "More processors. Bigger memory pools. Everything we have and more.

"The big step is to go from single processor to multi-processor. Single graphics card to multi-graphics card. To multi-memory. Do you do multiple memory pools or one memory pool? Since we can handle both consoles now, we control that as well. We have all the streaming systems. We have whatever we might need for the future.

"I would be surprised if there were something we couldn't do with the next-generation of consoles."

EA To Show Off Battlefield 4 Soon

EA will be showing off the latest installment of DICE's acclaimed Battlefield series within the next few months, the company revealed in an earnings call last night.

Frank Gibeau, president of EA labels said that while the publisher isn't ready to go into specifics, more information will be coming along within the 90 days or so. That puts it in April, at the longer end of things.

EA also discussed the fate of its ailing Medal of Honor franchise in the same call. In short, that one's going on ice for a while.

I'm scared shitless I dont want to spend my Microsoft Points on BF3 DLC cause they going to have BF4 on Premium for sale, will cost around 4000 like all new games on Premium, hope to see elements of BF2 in BF4 "fingers crossed"

Mate im on 360 but there are more number playing BF3 on PS3 right now, surprisingly numbers close to PC port, naturally Sony might have a top selling shooter's "sequel" in their list of announcements. Mob_zter's image definitively spills BF4, hope so!

Hope not, hope its for next gen and not for 360 or PS3, cause when next gen comes, I'll buy the best out of the two and not by another console for five years, shelf life will probably come down to 5, they say next gen will be last for console generations, with all the rumors, the PS4 will still be favorite cause people like to play online for free and Microsoft does not like the idea of making Live free. Graphic wise, hope the PS4 own that title

EA Invite Hints at Battlefield 4 Reveal
Event set for Game Developer's Conference.

EA is teasing an announcement at this month’s Game Developer’s Conference. In an invitation sent to IGN, EA reminds potential attendees to “save the date” and advertises an event on March 26th at a movie theater.

Interestingly, the invitation includes a familiar color palette that’s extremely similar to the box art for Battlefield 3. Given that Battlefield 4 was recently shown to retailers and has yet to see an official announcement, could this be when EA will finally reveal the sequel?

or now, no details have been confirmed, but look out for more info at the end of this month once the event has taken place. At last year's GDC, EA revealed Medal of Honor Warfighter as well as Battlefield 3's Close Quarters content.

The Game Developer’s Conference will take place in San Francisco from March 25th through 29th. The event will begin immediately after this year’s PAX East, where Blizzard and Capcom have also teased new announcements.

Official artwork from first person shooter Battlefield 4 seems to confirm that the game has a modern day setting, the same as Battlefield 3.

EA is set to unveil Battlefield 4 late on March 26, after having previously teased an announcement at GDC in San Francisco. They’ve subsequently admitted that this is indeed a Battlefield 4 reveal event, although how much they’ll actually show we’ll have to wait and see.

In the meantime the image above has been posted on website All Games Beta, which has a long history of leaking official promotional images and screenshots ahead of time.

As you can see it not only retains the same art style and colour scheme as Battlefield 3 but the tank and APC, not to mention the smaller image of the jet fighter, all appear to be regular modern day vehicles.

That’s not necessarily a surprise but Battlefield began as a Second World War game and has also dabbled in the Vietnam War and a future setting of 2142.

Although Battlefield 4 wasn’t expected to return to any of those developer DICE has previously hinted that it would have a near future setting. Although that was taken by many to imply something similar to Call Of Duty: Black Ops II, with robots and invisibility cloaks, it could equally just mean something set a few months ahead of now.

It is possible that the image above is purposefully not telling the whole story, but for now it seems as if Battlefield 4 is a direct sequel with the same setting.

Battlefield 4 beta open to all Battlefield 3 Premium subscribers – report

Battlefield 4 enters beta later this year and word from Origin Russia is that all Battlefield 3 Premium subscribers will receive access. Swallow some salt and judge the evidence for yourself.

russian Battlefield fan site MyBattlefield grabbed the above screen from Origin Russia. Note the timeline of unlocks on the right side. It goes through all subscription goodies, starting with all Battlefield 3 DLC and ending on Battlefield 4 beta access.

MP1st reports that the text in English reads, “exclusive access to the beta version of Battlefield 4″.

At the moment the only way to gain access was to have pre-ordered Medal of Honor: Warfighter before it launched last October, but DICE always said that there would be other ways to get access.

ok. did not went though all the 6 pages but below is the tomshardware BF4 beta review. to me the most interesting part is that the upgraded FB3 engine will be utilized for the next cycle of dragon age and mass effect games. so you better have a good VGA like HD7850 or GTX 660 kinda card if you are playing 1920 * 1200 or above for full glory of graphics that the engine able to offer.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/battlefield-4-graphics-card-performance,3634.html

back to the game. i hope i can get it for cheap jst like i got the orginial BF3  ;D

What he meant is, buy the game, and feel the difference.
As for getting Battlefield 4 cheap, you might have to wait for a long time

Guys I have been playing BF4 on Xbox 360, and decided to switch to PC recently. Now I'am getting very high pings and can't find well populated servers to play on (I have premium too). So can anyone give me some pointers playing BF4 on PC? Ohh and also if there's any SL BF4 severs and platoons please do let me know.

Are you on SLT or Dialog? Wired or wireless? since when have you been having this problem? It might be your connection and not your game settings, turn off your AA

I've been reading this thread for some time, trying to make sense.

First the facts - at 720 p your 7730 should be comfortably work above 30fps at LOW QUALITY

Toms Hardware ran a benchmark on Low-end GPU and Battlefield 4

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-r7-240-and-250,3717-7.html

at 1680x1050 the avg is well above 30 fps (41 fps )

They too used an i5(albeit overclocked) and 8 GB of RAM

Hopefully if your net is'nt shoddy

Since that proves their is no Hardware issue, the only problem is the Battlefield 4 servers, they are prone to Rubber-banding and lag spike, specifically in 24 + player severs. Recently they did a mega - upgrade on their servers and now CLAIM such issues are over.

First try the beta. Then if you occur any problems uninstall and download the latest catalyst driver.

For AMD, stick to non-Beta if possible since the latest drivers are meant for R7 and R9 series.

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download select your proper GPU here

However regarding this issue about lag, I can confirm that I too have it. My friends have it, and every one in Sri Lanka would have probably come across it.

Once again I would like to remind you that all servers in BF4 have / had the lag issues. I also would like to know whether, you also have bad hit detection, and 1 shot deaths from enemies , then the issue is definitely server side. Something I came across, is that German and UK servers while their ping is high(150+) has no such lag spikes occurring frequently

Battlefield 3 is pretty much stable compared to Battlefield 4, and also their server resources and specifications are different. Therefore comparing your experience in BF3 to BF4 is of no use.

Good Luck and Don't worry

I did a few things which were pretty popular online: 1)i unparked my cpu cores, 2)i uninstalled and freshly installed the 14.4 latest stable amd driver

I tried both mantle and directx and mantle gave me  higher fps. So im sticking with mantle. But the issue is the fps fluctuated from 15 to 90 :(    (in low settings). The gameplay gets extremely choppy in low fps. Pls tell me a fix

as expected nothing good in the story so its a 4 and the single player campaign ends rather short. but  this is a game targeting the MP aspects rather than the single player so i guess we have to live with it.

ok i did  second run to test 2880*1620 where all VGA settings are maxed out in the game. the FPS kept above 30 mark about 96% of the time and that's impressive.

one more thing.. the most enjoyable moment for me was how the mission before the last one ended. it was a total surprise how the 3 were picked up and i have never seen that kinda maneuver in a game.
