Max Payne 3
« on: March 24, 2009, 09:11:57 AM »

Six years after the release of Max Payne 2, Rockstar Games, best known for its Grand Theft Auto games, decides it’s time to unleash a new Max Payne on the world — Max Payne 3. Like the previous games, the hard-boiled detective story will focus on former NYPD gumshoe Max Payne, who’s a poster child for Prozac — he’s got major internal demons and a penchant for violence. Sam Houser, Rockstar Games’ founder, says that the new Max will be “older, more world-weary and more cynical than before.”

It’s hard to imagine what a “more cynical” version of Max Payne will be like — he’s already plenty cynical, but we’re sure that will somehow translate into more violence, bloodshed and dialogue that sounds like it was ripped from a Dashiell Hammett novel. The first two Max Payne games (released 2001 and 2003) are often credited with starting the trend of using slow-mo “bullet time” in games — then used in hundreds of games after — were some of the few games in the early aughts to successfully blend an interesting storyline and a sympathetic character with high-octane action. We just hope this Max Payne — out for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC later this year — will make us forget about all about the game’s abominable film adaptation starring Mark Walburg that stunk up box offices last year. What do you think, are you looking forward to this sequel?

nope ur nt alone......i notice that original developer remady is missing here :o
(remady is busy wit alan wake project http://www.alanwake.com/)

i have a bad feeling that this may ended up like farcry2,cod3,cod5.......(where original developer is replaced by another one)

Rofl why is Max dressing like Bruce Willis in Die Hard.
I am really hoping this means he was put in prison or something after episode 2 and we have to shank and shoot ourselves out, while contending with a bunch or crazy criminals who are non too fond of fallen from grace detectives.
Here's hope no more love interests in this game cause this guys looks like he is 50 and he only pops painkillers viagra not so much.

P.S. i am gonna miss the leather great coat :(

Info from various forums:

Quote
It is no longer in New York; it is now in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
But NY is part of the dark, grim world of Max Payne :(

Quote
   * The game takes place 12 years after Max Payne 2, although if what happens between MP2 and MP3 will be in the game is unknown.
    * There will be a cover system for the game.

Cover? Whats that?  ::)

Quote
They do not really talk about the weapons but they do show screens where Max is dual-weilding different weapons like a beretta and an ingram. Some other weapons in the screens are the Desert Eagle and the shotgun.

The person doing the interview said that bullet time will be back and they will try to make it better to seperate from other games that have copied it.

And the screens look amazing. Rockstar says they spent a lot of time mapping out the city it takes place in and it really shows. The scenery looks amazing.

Some other cool tidbits: They are introducing a new feature when you are about to die, if you shoot the person that has almost killed you then you will get revived.

Another thing is that there is going to be multiplayer but there was nothing else revealed about it.

The bit in bold = WTF? Thats just stupid...

*Cough* Double Agent *Cough* Look at the bottom left picture for crying out loud in the scan magazine. Oh and the face?

Really worried that they're gonna totally screw up the Max Payne series >_< Oh and about

Here's hope no more love interests in this game cause this guys looks like he is 50 and he only pops painkillers viagra not so much.

Lol, well he is actually going to be in his forties me thinks (looks 30 in the previous games, this is 12 years after). Anyway, the love interests was part of what made the story so good and grim. The whole Mona Sax thing is part of what drove Max and threw him over the edge. If they take this element out along with all the other changes, it looks like Max Payne will just be a real fancy third person shooter...no story, no atmosphere, just action :\

(Of course, heres hoping that I will be completely wrong and Rockstar pulls through in the end...)

looks like im right!!!! :(

i have a bad experience abt sequels which are done by other than original developer

ex. cod3
     cod-world at war
     far cry2
so im pray that they are not going to ended up wit a horrible game :\

p.s
for those who don't understand developer and publisher thing
we take painting for example
painter=developer
company who sponsor and sell the painting = publisher

so basically it majorly depend on developer since the skill are theirs :)
in this case original one is remady(their current project is alan wake (Y)) is not making this sequel :(
