[HELP] Upgrading from GTX 760
« on: December 25, 2017, 08:49:54 pm »
Planning to upgrade from GTX 760. Just  wandering whether my 4th gen i3 is capable of handling a GTX 1070 without a significant bottleneck. 60fps in 1080p is more than enough for me.
Primary - Intel Core i7 2600K @ 4.2GHz | Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo P+P | Asus P8Z77-V-LX | GSkill Sniper 4x 4GB DDR 3 1600MHz | OCZ Vertex 3 Max IOPS 120GB | Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB | Toshiba Nearline Enterprise 2TB | Samsung Writemaster 24x DVD R/W | Seasonic G-Series 750W 80+ Gold | Gigabyte GTX 1070 G1 Gaming 8GB GDDR5 | NZXT Sentry 2 Fan Controller | Corsair Obsidian 450D | ViewSonic 24" Full HD VX2451 mh-led | Creative Inspire 5.1 5200

Secondary - Intel Core i3 4130 | Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H | Kingston 8GB DDR 3 1600MHz | Samsung 500GB | LG 24x DVD R/W  | Seasonic G-Series 550W 80+ Gold | MSI GTX 760 TwinFrozr Gaming 2GB GDDR5 | Antec GX700 | AOC I2369VM 23" Full HD IPS |  Creative Inspire 2.1 | Asus Xonar DGX

Yes it should bottleneck the 1070 when playing the latest titles. But it really depends on the game. I doubt that you'll be able to reach FHD 60fps for most games that utilizes raw cpu power as well as gpu.

You can easily plug your 1070 to your secondary PC and find out.

Fastest card I would recommend would be a RX 570. Capable of handling pretty much everything at 1080p maxed, and not too far beyond the capabilities of a i3 4th Gen.
