Any place to repair a dead GPU ?
« on: October 28, 2017, 03:22:56 pm »
So my GTX 1060 died about a month ago and it was sent to USA for RMA , now they are saying that it is Unrepairable due to physical damage ( which I assume is corrosion damage) and that my warranty is voided .

I've sent them a text asking for the specific details of the damage and whether they can repair it by charging me .(will update their response )

So if everything goes wrong is there any trusted place in Sri Lanka where I can repair by GPU ?

These issues r very common in SL and also most do not take it seriously. Cleaning on a regular basis is essential. Also handling them incorrectly also cause damage to the card. So users need to take care.

Any tips on how to handle the card & how to clean?
I've heard mixed advice - some say if you clean it can void the warranty (assuming you screw it up somehow)?

Use a brush to clean the dust in the fans, use spray can which will take dust in the PCB or bring it for service once or twice a year.
