Illuminati exists even in Sri Lanka. Kalutara South Police has build a Illuminati Pyramid, it's only 3 feet tall, but it is there.

Marginal improvement and a lower price is good and all
But better wait and see how amd ryzen responds
Such destruction, much waste, such wow , console is better than pc

These are '7th Gen' as much as a 4790K was '5th Gen'.

Intel has had monopoly on the CPU market for way too long now. It's sad that this combined with the end of Moore's Law has made the CPU market so stagnant; look at the benchmarks, the 7700K is fractionally better than the 6700K at stock speeds, let alone when both are at the same clocks. And even though the gap widens ever so slightly between the 7700K and the 4790K, that too is still an order of times smaller than it has been across three generations, not counting Broadwell. We've been stuck on 14nm for two generations now, not even counting Broadwell or the upcoming Cannon-Lake. Something needs to change.

I really hope Ryzen brings something new to the table. If not in terms of performance, at least in terms of pricing.

I really hope it's not another 'Bulldozer'.

I am going to upgrade from sandy bridge, though I v been told I may not get a significant performance leap. I v used this processor for more than three years now. I need a cool motherboard and better ram more than the processor.

Does anyone know whether New boards can be connected to a home theater system ? Do they have a digital optical out ?  I use my TV as the monitor and currently I v connected my home theater to the TV via the optical out in TV, but that doesn't output true surround sound. If I can connect the home theater system to the Motherboard directly , it would be great. Is it possible to do with new motherboards ?

I know this is not what u asked but wait for Ryzen. Then make a decision.

Some motherboards do sport optical out, though it's mainly either ITX ones aimed at the HTPC market or higher-end ATX ones. I'd say stick with your rig for now; the 2600K is one heck of a good CPU, and is still more than capable of 1080p gaming. Unless you're aiming for lower power consumption and temps, upgrading won't give you much of a difference in terms of CPU power. If you're into video-editing or 3D rendering there may be a marked difference, though don't quote me on that. Bump up your RAM to 2x8GB and add a sound card like the ASUS Xonar DGX if you want optical out, and you should be good to go for the next year or two.

I know 2600k is a good processor. But I m looking mainly for a motherboard and ram upgrade. Aesthetics also matter. It doesn't feel right to look for an old 3rd gen motherboard, not many of them are around anyway. My current mb doesn't even have the USB 3.0 support which sucks. Also it only has 2 ram slots.  USB 3.0 support, 5.1 with a digital optical out, more ram slots alone are reason enough to go for an upgrade. I can perhaps still sell my 2600k processor as well. If I hold on to it longer, the price will only depreciate.

As for ryzen, knowing amd, the prices will be lower when compared to intel, but I don't know much about the motherboard support. Currently Intel chips have a plethora of boards to choose from.

Zero - You have listed Aorus Z270X-Gaming K3 in your pricelist though I can't find the details of a K3 gaming board in the Aorus site or online. Aorus series ends with gaming K5 according to their site.
