LankaBell Broadband - anybody tried it?

Hey guys,

keep seeing this add on dailymirror about lankabell broadband, offering speeds of 512kbps, 1mbps and 2mbps (2 @ 5500.00 a month with connection fee of 10k)

Has anybody tried it? There was a rumour about them offering 10mbps as well - that should be cool if they can give good QOS - however a few qustions - does lankabell own any direct lines out of the country or are they piggybacking on SLT's and Dialog's (i'm sure dialog has direct connections)

If anybody has tried it @ home or maybe in their offices, pls respond - thanks.

Let me guess, another new ISP , i dont think its a good idea to get along with any other ISP than SLT, coz i bought this Dialog thing, and even though it says 7.2mbps, i dont feel such thing at all , anyway if ur trying to get along with lanka bell, u'd rather watch some1 using it and than go for it..

Hmm, I don't think that's Dialog. It's Mobitel and it's wireless. Wireless broadband don't have steady speeds.

No man its dialog, its not the mobitel's 3.5G, it works on HSPDA, sometimes i get the speed to hspda but most of the time its wcdma

I'm on dialog 1mb over WIMAX ! very good net no need of any download managers for it to catch 125 ks ! im very satisfied with the speed.

dont forget its given i n bits not bytes,so your bandwidth in bytes is 7.2 divided by 8

nope i didnt try it yet..i got slt adsl...is it better than slt adsl??

WiMAX is the best and latest!  (Y)WiMAX is the best access technology than HSPA; you know Y! HSPA has been developed on mobile network where the development is based on the station mobility and more bandwidth, but WiMAX developed for fixed stations where giving a higher bandwidth is only concern; As I am a telecom expert; I know; mobile network has to compensate its bandwidth for the mobility; So a fixed broadband service like WiMAX has no any hazzals to limit its bandwidth; development is going on the next version of WiMAX i.e. 802.16e and it is a mobile version, coming up few years later to SL.

Lanka Bell has a Submarine cable which is 1.2 Tera Bit per second; 1 st international cable to land in tera bit level to Sri Lanka; Only SLT has couple of Gbps submarine cable.

I experienced the bell broadband; It is the best i ever had. you may download any number of capacity; they have not put a limit to download the packet like others (SLT :1 GB free and even Dialog has the limit 512 KB according to packages more than this you have to pay): Lanka Bell offer unlimited downloading capacity(only monthly rental is applied)...Thats Y I switched into Bell Broadband.....

Seems good. No DL limit, reasonable rentals.... If not for the Rs 10000 connection fee (wayy too high) I'd have surely switched.
