AHEM... Just for you're information ... a "Dirk"  is a short scottish dagger.
Ha! Beat that you simple named ignorant lot
(punches the air) ;D 8)

And   RAN.... If you were lookning for ADDICTS as in ADDICTED ADDICTS who are ADDICTED, I doubt you'd find them here (I hope..) try searching for a 'gamers anonymous' or something.
You could also stop treating EVERY gamer as an addict cos that's quite unrealistic.

And that fungal thing was SAD. Seriously you could've come up with something better than that!  :D :D :D
Addiction and trigger happiness aside, NORMAL MAINSTREAM gamers find that Gaming improves reflexes, concentration,  strategic planning, resource management (well, to a certain degree :D), Team work, decision making etc..

Dont worry Ran... You'll be a Gamer yet   ;D :D

P.S.  2-3 hours a day is nothing.  I heard of this guy who took a YEAR off uni to game.  Now THERE'S an addiction!

but note, just because it has some good stuff in it doesnt mean its all good.. as with drugs.. you can use it as medication, but a lot of it, screws u up :)
same goes for gaming. cheers :D

Well, alot of anything screws you up, so doubt that needs to be stated  :D

For what it's worth, I did know what a dirk is, but it turned out dirky had a separate definition... Could've happened to anyone, right?

ur parents named u after a dagger? :L u mst have been one hell of a kid :P

newaaaaay i was looking for addicts for my research , but i just posted here on raveen's request! (i cant b bothered repeating ,pls refer to the earlier post :P)

and im not treating any gamers as addicts, im just talking abt the effects of "addiction" for goddssakes!! :P

And i just read the fungal thing somewhere and said that :P, u come up with something better, i cant b bothered googling :P

and i didnt say ADDICTS GAME 2,3 hours a day u fool, i said limit ur time if u feel like u r inclining towards being addicted. (again refer to the earlier post)
and read what i type thoroughly, u r replying to the gist of it, without getting the hang of what im really saying.
anddd im sure there are many positive methods in gaming which also falls under "how gaming affects the gamer" which i 'have' mentioned in my paper, but thanku for ur view on this as well.. :P

i stated "but note, just because it has some good stuff in it doesnt mean its all good.. as with drugs.. you can use it as medication, but a lot of it, screws u up
same goes for gaming. cheers "
as a general saying :P so get over it dirky :P

Oh I did read your posts carefully ;) However I did miss this :
im not talking abt gamers in general, im talking abt "addiction" !
My mistake :D :D
Hey, I have better things to do than scrutinize hours online :D :D lectures to run to 8)

And you're reluctance to point out any benefits ANYWHERE betrays your bias and something tells me that : " im sure there are many positive methods in gaming which also falls under "how gaming affects the gamer" which i 'have' mentioned in my paper"
didn't occur.. or you would have rememebred them  :D

Plus, you and I both know what you REALLY think.... ;)     (Kanch really should keep her emails to her self)

And going back a few posts, "if violence is gonna affect u cos u r an "Addict" and u r gonna get ur self killed eventually, what makes u a better judge at saying what's better and whats not"
I think Addiction doesn't necessarily mean violence. People with violent tendencies would tend to act on them regardless of whether they are addicted to violent games. Then again, people addicted to violent games dont necessarily always carry all that into everyday life.

Anyways.... dear Ran..  How'd the paper go? I hope you got a good grade at least after all this 8)

Everything affects you negatively if you overuse it, so that means gaming is Just another entry on the endless list of addictions out there... What's the big deal? It's also a functional emotional outlet, to boot. Plenty worse available. Letter posting addiction just might be one of them...
