ok so i had the 512 kbps package and cudnt stand with its speeds so i disconnected it and got a dongel. turn out dialog keeps giving crap everyday and keeps reducing my speed.i hav the routr how much do i hav to pay to get the 8mbps connection.and if anyoin is using it i wud love to know the speed  :\

i called them..... they said it matters in the area so if u like near a slt office then you can get 8mbps  if u are a bit far you would get 6 or 5mbps.. 1k is the startup fee and 1.49k every month.... Limited of 25 GB

Hey guys,
I just went to update the connection from old 512Kbps to web family connection (8Mbps one), and they said they cannot do the conversion since it will affect my PEO TV. (ADSL will use whole bandwith so PEO TV won't suffice)
I asked them what if I do not download when I watch TV, they said SnR ratio and attenuation will be increased, so even if I don't download, I won't be able to watch TV

My distance to exchange is 2.1 KMs.

Is somebody upgraded this connection with PEO TV? I badly need this high speed connection since I monthly download somewhere around 12 GB.

ah so this is prolly to do with the adsl2+ service making use of an expanded span of the bandwidth available via copper cables. i didnt think it would interfere with the ip tv bandwidth allocation though. they're supposed to have non conflicting frequency bands.

Yeap they shouldn't conflict.
The part I''m not sure about is SnR ratio and attenuation.

Any other PEO TV users?  ???

16GB candy bar.. what a stupid joke is this..look @ the limits & restrictions they give with this crap. Even the price is not worth it. I dont think eny business will give up their old 2mbps lines & get a Rs20k pakage. It was 5 years ago they are capable of giving 20GB not 16GB.
Its all because of the trolling happend in SLT fan pages that they couldnt stand it. They drameticaly lost their customers. Thats why they gave away cheap routers & all for last 2 months.

did a bit of research and found out the exact issue. your iptv will not be impacted by your internet connection, but more likely the reverse will happen. iptv uses the very same adsl frequency for data. there is a reserve frequency between data and voice so voice will never be affected. iptv itself uses considerable bandwidth and the recommended capacity is 4Mbps. the way g.dmt works is it divides the frequency band into bins. it is in these bins that data bits are allocated. bins with a higher SnR will have more bits as the quality will be good. now assume you add an increased internet speed to the mix for web use as opposed to iptv use. since iptv already hogs most of your 'good' bins, you will have trouble finding space to fit in your internet access. since you are now left with the crappy bins, you cannot reach the promised net speeds for web browsing. slt needs to agree on a 60% max QoS, which they cannot achieve with this combination.

there is no impact to your iptv if you do not use the net at the same time. the issue is they do not want to risk it since you could always complain that they arent keeping to their promised speeds. however if you switch to adsl2+ with the 16mbps line, you will not see any issues. adsl2+ expands the frequency band for data. 1 to 8Mbps is normal adsl. this is one reason why u see a thunderous increase in price from 8mbps to 16mbps :). snr can also be affected by the quality of your iptv router :).

hope this helps.

Wanna know two things.

1. I can not use speedtest.net. It says configuration load failed. any ideas ?

2. Will there be a big difference in ping if I switch to 8 from 512?

no package from slt is unlimited now.The fup is now imposed on all broadband packages.users with unlimited packages are automatically put under the fup after 6 months of usage. This what they said when i asked about their fup policy
