What does "Up to 16mbps" mean? Looks like the normal 4mb package with a little marketing twist?
Source? If its true it looks reasonable to me...*reasonable* being the keyword
Its trueHere is the source http://www.trc.gov.lk/images/pdf/NewBroadbandPackages12_11.pdfActually this is a great deal for normal users who dont download alot."Package speed will be the “line speed supported” which will be agreed with the customer at the time of service provisioning. The “Line speed supported” is decided at the time of service provisioning by way of technical speed verification of the wired connectivity and it will be notified to the customer in writing."Quote from TRC Website

Does this mean that your line or link from the SLT base station should support 8/16Mbps before they provide you the service and they give you the theoretical maximum data rates over the line?
Not reallySpeed relies on so many factorsfor example the distance from the base station, telephone cable quality etc.16mbps is the theoretical maximum speed which will be given to the users. I dont think anyone will get that speed
that matrix has the minimum download speeds incorrect for web mate and web surfer. should read 512kbps and 1mbps if I'm not mistaken. saw the 16mbps slt ad on the sunday times property magazine front cover today..
True and agreed. My question was that my max line speed is 8mbps (checked a couple of years ago with a tech who came by). Does this mean that I cant upgrade to the 16mpbs (assuming i go for the package) and the letter they will offer is just that I will be getting 8mbps as the max due to the nature of the line?
