I needed some about a year ago & had to bring them down - couldn't find a single place that had 'em. Do let us know if you find any locally...

Outdoor Gyms
« on: November 14, 2016, 12:42:10 pm »
Guys, any known outdoor gyms in Sri Lanka?

I'm looking for a one in Col 07 or Near Kadawatha, Kiribathgoda maybe.

I heard there's one in the independence square but I don't remember one being there.  :\ There's a one I guess in the ground where all the national athletes train but I don't know whether it's open to the public or not. And whether it's free.

Is there a one in the kiribathgoda walking path?

And what about beach gyms? From bamba to dehiwala perhaps?

and for anyone who's looking there's a one at Malabe. From a news letter I found this.

Already a number of such facilities have been constructed in many areas including Independence Square, Mabole, Nawela, Bellanwila, and Battaramulla.

I guess a pull up bar and a dips bar would suffice at least. Would be nice to have some rings though.

Writing this for anyone who is interested.

In the colombo 7 region I only found two places. (Public & Free of charge)

One is in the independance square.

There is a little hut/ room created just outside the sports/health building @ the independance square with 4 or 5 machinery. I noticed there is a lat pull down machine and a couple of leg extension machines.
This place usually opens up @ 4/5 am and closs at about 9 am. Then again opens up in the evening at about 4/5 pm and stays open up until about 10pm.

And if you move from there towards the colombo uni/ rupavahini side there is the one I was searching for.

But unfortunately they've added some wierd stuff but not a dips bar.But two pull ups bars are there.

here are the equipment available.

2 pull up bars
2 benches attched together
some weird rope puller on a wheel
another weird climbing sort of thing

The other one is at Viharamahadevi park. If you come from the green path you'll get there easily.
There's a pull up bar and a dips bar. but the pull up bar is a bit shorter.

Both places are free of charge and nobody has any interest of using them it seems. Why pay when can get it done for free? lol.

But not actually satisfied with both places but it'll work fine.

There are a few other places, but you'll need permission to enter.

The one at independence square has lat pull down, chest press, chest fly, shoulder press, leg extension machines and a dumbbell set and a bench. It's a pretty good gym for beginners.
