Post by: CB on November 14, 2017, 06:13:43 pm
Based in Shanghai, the World Electronic Sports Games is an eSports championship series organized by Alibaba Group, hosting tournaments for Counter Strike: Global Offensive, DOTA 2, Starcraft 2, and Hearthstone. The event drags in teams from all around the world to compete for a prize pool of $1.5 million.

WESG begins its registrations from August to November, following which it holds its national qualifiers through to December. The regional qualifiers will follow suit till January, and the Grand Finals will take place on March 2018.

Last year's WESG boasts a contestant number of over 63,000 individuals from 125 countries, with a live stream view number of 375,893,813 and a prize pool of $5.5 million.

It has been announced that Sri Lanka would be able to compete in the APAC qualifiers under the sub-region 'South Asia+ South East Asia'. The 2 winners of the sub-region qualifiers would then compete in the LAN event in China with their travelling and accommodation expenses covered up for. We encourage all Sri Lankan teams to participate in the event for a chance to represent your country on an international stage. Registrations for the WESG qualifiers are now officially opened and can be accessed through the below links.
